It was as Dominic Nathaniel Calvert-Lewin that the English football player was born on 16 March 1997 in Sheffield, England to a white British mother and a father with African and Caribbean.

His childhood was all about football, and he got the support of every member of his family including his parents, grandparents, and aunts, all of whom came sometimes to see him play when he was still very much of a young boy. He revealed that his entire existence as a kid had something to do with football.

When he was 8, he joined Sheffield United where he started his Youth Career in 2005. He continued until 2014 when he started his senior career with the club.

Calvert-Lewin started his senior career with Sheffield, but he only got to play a few games before he was shipped on loan to Stalybridge Celtic where he netted 6 goals in 5 games. Next, he went on loan to Northampton Town from 2015 to 2016 when he was bought over by Everton.

For the England national team, he first appeared in the jersey for the Under-20 team in 2016, scoring 6 goals in 14 appearances. He then moved to the Under-21 team in 2017, recording 7 goals in 17 appearances.

2. His fantastic form for Everton earned him his England senior team call up

In 2020, Calvert-Lewin received a text message from the FA, informing him that he has earned a place in the England national team. He revealed that as soon as he broke the news to his mother, she broke down in tears. According to the England head coach Gareth Southgate, it was the performance of the player for Everton in the 2020/2021 season in which he netted 10 goals in 5 appearances that earned him the call.

The Everton player was in a relationship with Instagram model, Meg Taylor Lilley. It is not known when they started dating, but the two were first linked to each other in 2017 and they were still together as of 2018 when news emerged that she dumped Calvert-Lewin so that she could appear on the reality TV show, Love Island.  It was reported that at the time she ended the relationship with him, they had already dated for only a year.

Reported to be someone who loved fame and living a lavish lifestyle, she decided to break up with the young footballer since she couldn’t be in a relationship and still be on the show. However, she came out and laughed at the report that she dumped him for the show, off.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin insisted that although many might want to believe that he came almost from nowhere to be where he is, he has worked through the years and made many sacrifices to this point. He said he was not the same player that came to the club a few years ago as he has now grown in skills and experience.

He might be only 23 and having his best season yet, but Dominic has already started setting records with the team. With some already comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo, although he still has a long way to go, he has his name on the record books of the club by becoming the first to score two hat tricks in a month since 1931 when  Dixie Dean set the record in November of that year.

Having scored 10 goals in the team’s first five games at the start of the season, he became the first player of the team to record such a feat since the 1938/29 season when Tommy Lawton set the record for the first time at Goodison Park.

As far as the numbers go, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is cashing out big with the club. He is said to be taking home a massive £100,000 each week in salaries, making him one of the highest-paid players of the club during the 2020/2021 season. He takes home more than players like James Rodríguez who receives £90,000, Jordan Pickford (£85,000), Alex Iwobi (£80,000), and Theo Walcott (£80,000). That said, he is paid lower than Richarlison who takes home nothing short of £120,000 each week.

The base salary of Calvert-Lewin is placed at £4.8 million annually, while his contract is expected to last till 2025. His market value is placed at over £36 million as of October 2020.
