According to reports, McClelland and Gloria Marie James started dating while in high school. While it has been revealed that the relationship was causal, Gloria got pregnant as a result of the friendship at the age of 16.

At that time, Anthony was known as Roland Bivens who was a basketball star. Bivens was later charged with arson and theft so he disappeared. At the time Gloria had James, nobody knew who his father was. However, there are other reports that claim Roland did not own up to fathering the NBA star because it was reported that he had died in a drive-by in 1994 when Lebron was already 8 years old.

There have been claims that Roland Bivens did not actually die but he allegedly changed his name to Anthony McClelland to avoid going to jail or had gone to jail several times.

When he was subsequently arrested for arson and theft in 2002, many believed that both McClelland and Bivens is the same person. Regardless of what people believe, the authorities are yet to verify if Anthony McClelland and Roland Bivens are the same people.

For this reason, LeBron James grew up without a father figure. As a result of that, Gloria struggled to raise the basketball star playing the role of both the father and mother. Her mother was initially helping her raise LeBron but unfortunately, she died when the star was three years leaving Gloria Marie to raise her two younger siblings in addition to LeBron.

Other People Who Have Claimed to Be Lebron James’ Father

When it comes to discussing King James’ paternity, there have been people who have made claims to have fathered him. A lawyer, Leicester Bryce Stovell went as far as suing James for $4 million claiming he was his father. The lawyer claimed that he had a relationship with Gloria when he was 29 and Gloria was 15.

A DNA test would later prove that Bryce’s claims are not true but the lawyer insisted Gloria and LeBron tampered with the result.

LeBron James’ father currently lives in Ohio, United States. While he has tried mending his relationship with his son, he has reportedly worked on himself as well.
