Right from when he still a child, Bumstead had always had an interest in athletics and sports; the closest contact he had to any form of sport was the gym where he would spend long hours. After a while, gauging with the bodies of the other people in the gym he used to visit, Chris believed that he had achieved the highest point he would ever need to when it came to his body. All of this changed when he met his sister’s boyfriend called Iain Valliere.
Iain was the one that opened up Bumstead’s eyes to the possibilities available with bodybuilding and all of a sudden, he was aware of the many things he could achieve with bodybuilding. One of the other things that Iain taught Bumstead was competitive bodybuilding.
How His Career Took Shape
In 2015, Bumstead partook in his first-ever competition and it was the Canadian National bodybuilding championship of 2015, he won the first position in the Men’s junior division. After this first competition which he won, Bumstead finally felt like he had found a place where he belonged and he continued to work hard at growing bigger.
By the following year, he got his Pro card when he won the North American Bodybuilding championship. Chris Bumstead continues to train and he currently has a YouTube channel where he uploads videos of his work out routines, the videos are sometimes tutorials on how to do certain exercises properly. This channel is named after him and it was created in 2011 and now he has more than 200,000 subscribers.
The Mr. Olympia competition is the global premium bodybuilding competition and it has seven categories which include the Mr. Olympia title, one of these categories is the Classic Physique category.
Bumstead decided to enter the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition for the Classic Physique title and he won the title. This category is an off-shot of the classic era where competitors are required to have the physiques of competitors of that period.
On his YouTube channel, Chris uploaded a 51-minute video detailing the processes he had to go through to snag this win. The video also featured behind-the-scenes footage of him at the competition.
