1. He Was Born In Cambria, Wisconsin, But He Grew Up in Stromsburg, Nebraska

The UFC lightweight fighter, Grant Dawson was born in Cambria, Wisconsin, on February 20, 1994, and he is currently 31 years old. His father’s name is Alex Dawson.

He was raised in Stromsburg, Nebraska, with five siblings, including brothers Cam and Chase and a sister, Alexa.

2. Grant Stopped Playing Football When Discovered He Wasn’t Good

He was determined to pursue a football career, so he began wrestling to hone his skills. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very good at it, so he stopped playing and concentrated on wrestling.

3. He Competed In High School Wrestling

After shifting to wrestling completely, he started competing in high school wrestling when he was at Cross County Community School, in Polk County, Nebraska. By the time he graduated, his record stood at 40 wins and 8 losses.

4. KGD Didn’t Attend College Due To Dyslexia

Upon high school graduation, the expectation was for Grant to go to college, but he had to skip it because of dyslexia. The condition a reading disability characterized by difficulties detecting spoken sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words.

5. Since There Was No Going To College, Dawson Decided To Pursue A Martial Arts Career

Grant Dawson decided to pursue an MMA career after being unable to attend college due to his reading disorder. He, like every other MMA fighter, began at the Amateur level and finished with 8 victories and 1 loss.

Besides, he knew about UFC and MMA in high school.

6. He Made His Professional MMA Debut In 2014

He realized it was time to become a pro after compiling an amateur record of 8-1. As a result, he made his MMA debut in August 2014 in Omaha, Nebraska, against Jeremiah Denson. He won the fight by submission.

Dawson went on to win against Matt Williams, Adam Rider, James Smith, Chris McDaniel, Danny Tims, Andrew Carrillo, and Bryce Logan, as well as lose to Hugh Pulley. He joined the UFC in 2019 and currently has a record of 19 wins, 1 draw, and 1 defeat. Out of his 19 victories, he has 4 knockouts, 13 submissions, and 2 decision wins, as of June 30, 2023.

KGD is happily married to MMA fighter Ella Dawson. On November 21, 2022, they married. In terms of how their relationship began, the pair met and began dating in November 2017. After 5 years of dating, they decided to marry.
