The talented tennis player was born in Sacramento, CA, USA on the 26th of October 2000. He grew up an ardent sports lover and soon fell in love with tennis. He began turning heads in the tennis world since he qualified for a level-1 tournament at age nine. He is currently playing collegiate tennis at Baylor University.

1. Brooksby has had to make some tough decisions concerning his education and career
After capturing the heart of millions of fans after winning his first Grand Slam by beating Tomas Berdych (former Wimbledon finalist) in the first round of the U.S. Open at age 18. The more he won, the more tempting it was for him to go pro despite having committed to play for Baylor University under coach Brain Boland in December 2018. In the end, he chose to attend college to gain more experience and strengthen his game.
2. Brooksby is a straight A student
Asides the brilliance he shows on the field. He takes his education as serious as his sports. He revealed in his college application that he is a straight A student with his lowest grade being a 94% in French and highest a 99.6% in Biology. Through 9th grade, he had an overall GPA of 4.00 and weighted at 4.67.
3. Why he chose to attend College instead of going Pro
As he progressed in the US Open, he suffered an arm injury in a second round loss to Nikoloz Basilashvili. As he couldn’t play, he decided to go to college. According to him, the decision could have swung either way as he didn’t have a preference he just wanted to do what felt right.
4. Winnings
For someone so young, Brooksby has done really well. In 2019 alone, he won the M25 Bakersfield, CA, Champaign, Decatur, II. He won the USTA Boys’ under-18 national championship in 2018. He won back to back singles titles at the ITF Pro Circuit events in Illinois.
Before his very popular U.S. Open win, Brooksby has been on a winning streak.
Even though he has earned a total of $176,504 in prize money he is bound to turn down more money as college tennis players are not allowed to accept prize money in order to maintain their amateur status.
5. Success at the junior tournament
Brooksby enjoyed lots of success in the junior league. He took 1st place in Boy’s 12s level 1 Nats Hard Courts, 2nd place in Boys 14s, won Boy’s 16s sectionals. He has five balls in total- two doubles silver balls, two singles silver balls.and 1 gold singles ball.
6. Fitness routine
Brooksby is no sloth. He spends a reasonable amount of time daily working on his game. He once shared in an interview that he spends at least four hours per day working on his game and doing fitness.
7. Present ranking
As at March 2020 Brooksby was ranked No. 287. His highest rank so far was N0. 266 in 2019.

It is difficult not to fall into the this bundle of talent considering what even if his coach has to say about him. He is very mature from a mental standpoint. He gets on well with his other team mates and staff. He has an uncanny ability dealing with expectations and managing distractions. Despite the success he already has, he remains humble. Brooksby is a fan of classical music. He plays classical music on the piano in his spare time.
