In an interview, Valentina revealed that her longtime coach Paval nicknamed her “The Bullet” in 2001 after her first professional fight. She also added that it was the tradition for trainers to name their trainees because they have known them better.

In 2016, Valentina Shevchenko’s husband was shot in a violent robbery that happened at a restaurant in Lima, Peru. As the story goes, the pair were having dinner when some robbers got into the restaurant and started harassing some of the customers.
At the sight of them, Valentina alerted Pavel who quickly came to everyone’s defense with his handgun. The initiated shootout lasted for a few minutes before the robbers ran out of the restaurant. Unfortunately, Pavel was left with an injury to the abdomen.
