Vince Carter is a professional American basketball player known for playing for the Atlanta Hawks and a handful of other teams as a shooting guard and small forward.
He is regarded as one of the best dunkers in the history of the NBA. Obviously, Vince made most of his money from his basketball career which has spanned over two decades. The figure coming from his entire NBA years of hard work is a whopping $180 million as of this writing.
Vince Carter Biography and Age
The basketball star was born Vincent Lamar Carter on the 26th day of January 1977, in Daytona Beach, Florida to his father Vince Carter Sr., and his mother Michelle Carter. His siblings are Alicia Scott, Chris Carter, and Jeff Scott.
Vince schooled at the Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida where he was part of the school’s basketball team. However, he did make a good name for himself being the first and only seventh grader to play as a rookie on the Campbell Junior High School’s varsity basketball team.
After high school, Carter was admitted into the University of North Carolina and while there, he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels, leading the team to two consecutive ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament titles and Final Four appearances in both his sophomore and junior seasons.
His Professional Career
Vince Carter began his professional basketball career when the Golden State Warriors chose him in the 1998 NBA draft as the fifth overall pick. The Warriors exchanged Carter with Antawn Jamison, the Toronto Raptors’ fourth overall pick.
He played for the Raptors until 2004 although injury took the best of him and he lost his starting position to Michael Jordan in 2003 after he was picked for the 2003 NBA All-Star Game.
On 17th December 2004, Vince left the Raptors and joined the New Jersey Nets. He played alongside Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson to become the leading players for the team. 2009 came and Carter was traded to the Orlando Magic in exchange for three players: Rafer Alston, Tony Battie, and Courtney Lee.
In his first season, he helped the team to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, although they lost 4-2 to Boston Celtics.
Vince had a short spell with The Phoenix Suns when they signed him in 2010. With the side, he played 51 games of which he started 41 and scored an average of 13.5 points.
Carter played for other teams such as Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Sacramento Kings between 2011 and 2018. It was on the 25th of August 2018 that the Atlanta Hawks signed him.
Vince Carter also played for the US basketball team at the 2000 Olympics where he helped the team to win Gold Medal. Also, he helped the team to win the FIBA Americas Championship in 2003.
In the NBA, he has made 7 All-Star teams from 2000 to 2007, among other individual achievements.

In 2004, Vince Carter got married to Ellen Rucker. The union was blessed with a beautiful girl child in 2005. Unfortunately, Vince and Rucker got divorced in 2006, a year after the birth of their daughter, Kai Michelle Carter.

The basketball star got into another relationship with Sondi Carter with whom he now has a son. From what we gathered, the two are now married and his wife is a trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. The couple currently has two children together.
While it is no secret that his daughter is named Kai Michelle Carter, almost nothing is known about his son.
His ex-wife is now married to Bakari Sellers, a CNN commentator, and a lawyer.
