Emanuel Augustus is an American former professional boxer. He was popular as the drunken master because of his entertaining boxing style and showboating in other to confuse his opponents in the ring.
He began his career in boxing at the age of 17 and ever since he faced top-level competitions only. He won a few titles in his career among which is the IBA light welterweight title in 2014.

Emanuel Augustus was born on January 2, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. He was born Emanuel Burton. His father’s last name is Augustus while his middle name is Ya’kov. He started using his stepfather’s name after his mother married him in 2001.

The boxer did not grow up with his parents. He was in foster system care moving from home to home all through his childhood. The woman he believed to be his mother got married in 2001 when he was 26 and that was when he started using the name ‘Augustus’.

Emanuel Augustus was staying at his cousin’s place when he overheard two men arguing in a red sports car while driving. The driver of the car suddenly stopped and the passenger named Christopher stills jumped out and fired his gun several times over the car.
One of those bullets found its way to the back of the former boxer’s head. He was rushed to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and it was discovered that the bullet had done so much damage to his body.
The doctors induced him into a coma to reduce the swelling in his brain. He was in a coma for nearly two weeks and his family and friends thought he might not survive. He was rumored to be dead but luckily enough for him, he survived it.
