Silje Solskjær is a former football player. She played for the Norwegian club Clausenengen when she was young. It was at the club she came in contact with the former Manchester United forward and coach. Their relationship lasted for so many years before, they got married in the United States.
After her husband’s retirement from playing, he became a coach. In 2018, Manchester United appointed her husband to manage the club in a caretaker position. The following year, he was given the permanent job, but the club sacked her man in 2021 following a dismal performance of the club in the 2021/22 EPL season.
To this day, she remains the number one supporter of her husband on and off the pitch. And also a mother of three amazing children. Here is everything you need to know about her.
Early Background of Silje Solskjær
She was born in 1974 in Norway. It seems she is a very private person, so much of what we know about her centers on her husband and her kids.
A thorough investigation reveals she grew up in Norway and even played football. She started playing football when she was young for Clausenengen. However, what we are not sure of is the level she reached while playing. What remains permanent is the fact that her husband attested she was a fantastic player back in the day.
She Ties The Knot With Ole Gunnar Solskjær In 2004
The couple started seeing each other in 1992, but they were apart for a short while when he was away performing the one-year mandatory military service. Eventually, everything went back to normal after his return. And after dating for several years, they made the choice to spend the rest of their lives together.
Silje and the football manager took their marital vows in Florida in 2004. They first knew each other at Clausenengen, where they trained together as kids.
She Is A Mother Of Three
Silje and her husband have three children; two sons and a daughter. She gave birth to their first son, Noah in June 2000. Three years down the line, she welcomed her one and only daughter, Karna in 2003, while her youngest son Elijah was born five years later in 2008.

Silje’s Children Have Taken To Football
Football runs in the Solskjær family as two of her children have taken after she and her husband. Her first son, Noah started his football career in the Clausenengen youth ranks, the same club where she and his father started playing. His first appearance for the club was in a friendly match against his father’s former club, Manchester United in July 2019.
He signed his first professional contract with Clausenengen in September 2020. However, he was loaned out to the Norwegian second division side, Sogndal after making three appearances.
Her daughter Karna has also taken to football just like her parents and big brother. She currently plays for Manchester United Women’s academy team. She previously played for local teams in Norway when her father was coaching Molde. She moved to England with her Family in 2019 when her father was offered a permanent deal as manager of Manchester United.
She has been phenomenal for Manchester United Women’s academy team, and it seems she may get an invitation to the first team in the future. But now, everything is in doubt following the sacking of her father by Manchester United, and a likely return to Norway from England.
As for the youngest of them, who knows he may take a similar path like his parents and siblings. Only time will tell.
Her Husband’s Background And Career
Ole Gunnar Solskjær was born on 26th February 1973 in Krisitiansund, More og Romsdal, Norway to his parents Øyvind and Brita Solskjær. His father was a Greco-Roman wrestling champion.
He fell in love with football at a tender age. He joined the local football team Clausenengen by the time he was seven. But in-between he also wrestled as a Greco-Roman wrestler before he turned ten. But, he quit because he was always being tossed around.
He later went for his mandatory military service in the Norwegian army between 1992 and 1993. His club career see him play for clubs such as Molde in 1995, and Manchester United from 1996 to 2007. He also represented Norway at the international level, with 67 caps and 23 goals for the national team, and 19 caps and 13 goals for the Under-21 team.
His managerial career started when he took charge of Manchester United’s Reserves on 20th May 2008. Two years later, he signed a 4-year deal as manager of Norwegian club Molde on 9th November 2010.
At the expiration of his contract with Molde, Cardiff City announced him as manager on 14th January 2014, but he left after eight months following a poor run of results in the club’s championship campaign. He returned to Molde the following year, signing a three-year contract with the club.
He managed the club until Manchester United appointed him caretaker manager on 19th December 2018. He was in charge of the club until his sack in November 2021 following a run of poor results that see the club languishing in 7th position on the table.
How Rich Is Silje Solskjær?
Although her net worth is not known, her husband has earned a decent amount of money from his career as a player and manager. Even though sources have given distinct figures as his net worth, it should be above $10 million.
The three-year contract he signed with Manchester United in March 2019 reportedly saw him earning roughly £25 million, and an option for an extra 1 year. However, his net worth is expected to rise after the club sacked him in 2021. According to reports, the club would be forced to pay him £7.5 million to release him from the contract.
