Her parents welcomed her on the 5th day of June 1998 in Bucharest, the capital and largest city of Romania. The 27-year-old was raised alongside her siblings, although their names and identities remain unknown.

It seems Cristian fell in love with the game of tennis at a tender age. Reports say the Romanian tennis player started playing tennis when she was five. Her desire and passion for the game saw her deciding to pursue a career in the court game.

In 2013, the  Romanian player started playing professional tennis. That year, she ranked 947 on the WTA singles and 896 on the WTA doubles rankings, but by the end of the year, she was at 1053 and 913, respectively.

Two years later, the Romanian appeared on the WTA Tour main-draw at the Bucharest Open in the doubles event, forming a partnership with Elena-Gabriela Ruse. Subsequently, she was given a qualifying wildcard for the Miami Open.

In 2019, the Romanian had her first WTA tournament final at the Bucharest Open in the doubles event, with Elena-Gabriela Ruse as her partner. Her breakthrough came in 2021 when she reached the top 100 for the first time in her career in November 2021.

She made it to the last 8 of the WTA event for the first time as a qualifier at the WTA 500 at St. Petersburg Trophy in March 2021, but 4th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated her. Six months later, she reached the semifinals of the Astana Open in Nur-Sultan, Kazakstan.

Cristian gained qualification as a wildcard to the first-ever edition of the Transylvania Open, which took place at the BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in October 2021. On a rather disappointing note, she lost to top seed, Simona Halep in the quarterfinals of the event.

Subsequently, her ranking further improved after she made it to the final of the Linz Open as a lucky loser. This was made possible following Halep’s withdrawal because of an injury in the semifinal. The Romanian failed to beat Alison Riske after losing in three sets.

1. She Is the First Romanian To Earn a Spot at the Quarterfinals of the Transylvanian Open

For her to proceed to the last 8 of the Transylvanian Open, the Romanian defeated two top seeds; Kaja Juvan and Ajila Tomljanovic. The victories earned her quarterfinal match with her fellow countrywoman, Simona Halep. Although she lost to the experienced Halep, that didn’t take away the accolades she received for being the first Romanian to make it to the last 8 on home soil.
