Jordan Cornette is a former collegiate basketball player and sportscaster. He is the host and in-game analyst for the Huddle, ACC Network’s signature football studio. Also, he has worked for ESPN, WCIU-TV WEIGEL BROADCASTING CO, CBS, Silver Chalice, and Big Ten Network in various capacities such as host, analyst, and producer.

Prior to becoming a broadcaster, he was the power forward for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball team for five years as a student. Also, he married a fellow broadcaster and co-host, Shae Peppler for 6 years now.

Jordan Cornette’s Early Life And Background

His parents Joel Snr. and Christi Cornette welcomed him as the second of their three children on 31st March 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 42 year-old grew up together with his big brother Joel and younger brother.

He had his high school education at St Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduation, he gained admission into the University of Notre Dame in 2001. Four years later, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in English.

1. His First Son Is Biracial

The sportscaster’s family is multiracial. According to reports his first and oldest son, Carter is biracial. He said whenever they have a discussion about race, it makes his son feel uncomfortable because he is a mixture of two cultures. But when it is done with respect and understanding, then the problem is solved already.

He further stated that when he was young, he was treated differently because of the manner of his dressing and speech. Whenever he experiences racism or unfair treatment, he shares it with his teacher or someone. So, these are the things he is teaching his son to always his experiences with them.

2. Cornette And His Wife Are The First Couples To Host A Show On ESPN

The Cincinnati native walked down the aisle with the stunning 38 year-old Shae Peppler on 1st June 2019 at a wedding ceremony at 18th 18th Lane of Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head Island after dating for nearly five years. They were said to have come in contact with each other while working together at Campus Insiders.

Prior to their nuptials, Cornette had a child, Carter with his ex-girlfriend. They went separate ways before he started dating Shae.

On the other hand, after Cornette and Shae got married, they welcomed their first child Joey Jackson on 10th April 2021. He was born 18 days earlier after Shae spent three days in labor. Also, he weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and 21.5 inches tall at birth.

Just like Cornette, his wife was born in a family of sports nuts in Chicago. The couple is reportedly the first married couple to host a show on ESPN Radio, GameDay with The Cornettes.

3. He Ditched Basketball For Broadcasting In 2005

The Cincinnati native was eligible for his debut in the 2005 NBA Draft but he chose to pursue a career in broadcasting instead. During his sophomore and senior year at Notre Dame, he was two-timing his team’s captain and had the record for the most blocked shots in the history of college basketball. His playing style was said to be influenced by Michael Jordan.

4. He Started His Career In Broadcasting As An Assistant

Even with such a record, his keen interest in broadcasting could not be quenched so he interned as an assistant to a couple of TV productions while learning about networks.

In June 2007, he joined Big Ten Network as a production assistant before he later became a segment host. He later worked as his alma mater’s Color commentator for nine years. Then in 2013, he served as an on-air personality at Silver Chalice.

Jordan Cornette later went ahead to serve as a college basketball analyst at CBS Corporation in 2015. From April 2017 to May 2019, he served as the host for the weekly show, The Jam at WCIU-YV Weigel Broadcasting Co. After working for two years, he resigned and joined ESPN Network in 2018 as a college basketball analyst.

After he founded ACC Network in2019, he became the executive producer for the network’s 24/7 coverage stories while he still co-hosts on ESPN with his wife who is an Indiana University graduate.

His wife reportedly did not have any intention of pursuing a career in broadcast journalism until she surprised and impressed her professor with a 4-minutes speech who in turn encouraged her to join broadcast journalism.

Shae has worked as a production assistant for Chicago Bears games on CBS and has interned on MTV Networks and Showtime Networks.

5. He Lost His Big Brother In 2016 To A Heart Failure

Jordan’s older brother, Joel was a former basketball power forward and center for the Butler Bulldogs. Joel was said to be his college basketball team.

Sadly, on August 16, 2016, Joel was reportedly found dead in his River North flat. According to reports, he suffered coronary atherosclerosis which blocked the arteries close to his heart.

Jordan’s brother who was 35 at the time was working as a sports agent before his untimely death. The former Notre Dame basketball player was reportedly devasted by the loss of his brother.

6. A Foundation Was Founded In Honor Of His Late Brother Joel Cornett

In 2017, a year after Jordan Cornette’s older brother Joel Cornette died of a heart attack, the “Joel Cornette Foundation” was founded. It was established to develop, support, and provide guidance to underserved youth through education and community.

Since it was founded, the foundation has pledged its support to provide a grant of $100,000 to the Heart Athletes Study. It has also collaborated with several foundations such as The  McLendon Foundation, Kids 2 Camp, and The Calipari Foundation among others.

The foundation has sponsored “The John Calipari Fantasy Experience” and “Coffee with Cal”. Moreover, the money donated went to other charities such as No Kid Hungry, World Central Kitchen, Blessing in a Backpack, and Feeding America.

7. The Cincinnati Native Is Earning A Decent Amount From His Broadcasting Career

The 42-year-old media personality reportedly earns $51,000 annually as a ESPN co-host. Throughout his long span career in broadcast journalism, Jordan Cornettes has not revealed his exact net worth yet however, there are sources that suggest his net worth is between $1 million to $5 million.
