Before becoming a fighter, Israel competed in dance competitions across New Zealand. The fighter still posts dance videos on his Instagram, and once came into a fight dancing. He is also a fan of anime which was what inspired his nickname, The Last Stylebender. The MMA artist hopes to start an anime company after retiring from the art.
He began his professional career as a kickboxer in 2010, as an MMA artist in 2012, and as a boxer in 2014. Fortunately for him, he excelled and even won championships in all 3. He won the Super 8 Boxing Tournament, King in the Ring, Glory, UFC Middleweight championship, and the Australian Fighting Championship among many others. The Nigerian-born MMA artist is the current UFC Middle Champion with 5 successful title defenses.

There have been rumors surrounding the MMA fighter‘s sexuality. It was speculated that he was gay or even bisexual seeing that he has dated Lottie. Although Izzy has not publicly come out to address these rumors, he has been giving signals to ascertain that the rumors might be true.
