Sunny Edwards is a 28-year-old British boxer who grew up learning to fight with his older brother, Charlie Edwards.
Both brothers have earned the International Boxing Federation flyweight title and World Boxing Council Championship titles in their fighting divisions.
Interestingly, the brothers who are barely on speaking terms may have a face-off soon.
Sunny Edwards, the Flyweight and Super-flyweight boxer is the father of 2 boys albeit having an undisclosed marital status.
Sunny Edwards Hails from Sutton, London
The British boxer was born on January 1, 1996, in Sutton, London, England. He was born to Mr. Larry Edwards, his boxing trainer who dedicated his time to training his sons from when they were still kids.
Sunny is the younger brother of fellow British Flyweight and Super-Flyweight boxer, Charlie Edwards who was born on February 8, 1993.
Sunny’s mother is named Terry Edwards and he also has a sister named Nicki Naga Edwards who was born on November 20. From his Instagram posts, he seems to be very close to his mother and sister.
Sunny started training to be a boxer before he even turned 10 years old. Then, he mostly trained with his elder brother.
At the time, their father bragged about them being the best boxers in London. Mr. Larry had so much faith that his sons were the best ever and would even make better fighting brothers than any other in the history of boxing.
He wasn’t so wrong after all, seeing that both sons have won world titles from their boxing careers. Sunny has the Flyweight IBF World Championship Title since he won it in 2021.
Charlie Edwards Challenged His Younger Brother to a Face-off
As already stated, Charlie Edwards is the older brother of Sunny. Charlie began training to be a boxer at the age of 11 and eventually represented Repton Boxing Club in London.
By 2011, he was named the Amateur Boxing Association British Light-Flyweight Champion. 3 years later, he won the Flyweight title.
His professional career soon followed in 2015 when he made his debut at The O2 Arena against Cristofer Rosales. He won the WBC flyweight title after this.
31-year-old Charlie hasn’t been in the boxing ring since December 2021 but he recently began to make waves again after he challenged his younger brother to a face-off. The brothers had a social media show off, calling each other out.
They haven’t been on speaking terms for a while and this challenge from Charlie has further aggravated things.
Sunny stated that he has no problem fighting his brother but that Charlie should level up and he would consider getting in the ring with him.
He also acknowledged that their mother won’t be happy seeing them fight but it has always been their father’s dream.
Sunny who used to spar with his brother while they trained with their dad, confessed that he hadn’t trained or sparred with Charlie since he was about 15 years old. This was duly refuted by the older brother who brought receipts of them sparring a few years ago.
The youngest Edward boy also stated that his older brother was only clout chasing. He claimed that Charlie was upset because he signed with his brother’s former training manager, Eddie Hearn.
A fight between these 2 would definitely be epic however, Sunny is reluctant to take his brother up on the offer.
