Grigor Dimitrov forges a career in the sports industry and has since become one of the most successful tennis players from Bulgaria. Arguably, he got his athletic prowess from his parents Dimatar and Maria Dimitrov who were tennis and volleyball players respectively.

Grigor Dimitrov’s Parents Had Careers in the Sports Industry
Unsurprisingly, Grigor Dimitrov took after the athletic prowess of his Bulgarian parents Dimatar and Maria Dimitrov who were both active in the sports industry. From the records, his father was a tennis coach and volleyball player while his mother was also active in volleyball and doubled as a sports teacher.
Even though his parent’s achievements as athletes have not been fully established, we garnered that his father Dimitar won a silver medal at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. He was also the one who trained his son into becoming a renowned tennis player.
Grigor started playing tennis at the age of 5 after his mother handed him his first tennis racket at the age of 3. With several years of training under his father, he was able to emerge as a champion during his tournament for juniors.
He turned professional in 2015 at the age of 16 and has become a force to be reckoned with among other players. In fact, he was once considered the best Bulgarian tennis player.

He is the Only Child of his Parents
Grigor Dimitrov was born on May 16, 1991, and raised as an only child. He was born in Haskovo, Bulgarie which is also the hometown of tennis players such as Dinko Halachev, and Dia Evtimova.
