Alyssa Thompson's Parents And Other Family Members

Alyssa Thompson’s parents, Mario and Keren Thompson made it to the spotlight following their daughter’s career as a professional soccer player. Interestingly, the pair were former athletes who juggled several sports during their teenage years.

While they did not pursue a professional career in sports, they have remained committed to supporting and encouraging their daughter’s passion for sports. As you would soon learn, the couple’s younger daughters Gisele and Zoe are also forging the same athletic path.

Alyssa Thompson’s Parents are San Fernando Valley Natives

Alyssa’s parents Mario and Karen have not established so much about their early life and family background. Nonetheless, we garnered that they are natives of San Fernando but have roots linked with Filipino, Peruvian, Black, and Italian.

They were also educated Los Angeles. However, Alyssa’s father attended Bishop Alemany High in Mission Hills while Karen went to Bell-Jeff in Burbank.

Mario and Karen Juggled Several Sports as Youth

Obviously, Alyssa got her athletic genes from her parents who are also sports enthusiasts and even played a few sports as teenagers.

Her father, Mario was active in sports like football, basketball, and track in high school. He continued playing in college but did not pursue a professional career. He currently works as a principal of an elementary school.

Even though Alyssa’s parents did not pursue a professional career in sports, they have been able to support and encourage their children on the same path. In fact, they revealed that they got their daughters enrolled in sports to keep them busy and they later developed a passion for it.

Alyssa Thompson is not the only Chilld of Her Parents

As hinted earlier, Alyssa is the eldest of her parent’s three children. Her younger sisters are Gisele and Zoe and they are 20 and 12 years old respectively.

Like Alyssa, her younger sister is also a soccer player. According to Alyssa, she and her sister fell in love with soccer at the same time as they juggled several sports during their childhood. While their parents have relentlessly supported them, the pair have also dedicated their energy and time to building their careers. Alyssa hinted that having each other makes the work easier. Together, they have balanced school work, soccer, and social life.

Alyssa plays as a forward for the NWSL team Angel City FC and the United States women’s national team while her sister Gisele plays the position of a defender and only started training with Angel City in 2023.

Their athletic careers also earned them a spot as one of Nike’s signees becoming the first high school athletes to sign NIL with the brand.
