1. He has Italian ancestry
Jack was born on September 10, 1966, in Perth, Australia but he has Italian roots stemming from his grandfather. Also, Jack said he has been to Italy twice and he loved the place, the people, and the delicious food.
Meanwhile, Della Maddalena attended St. Kevin’s College in Melbourne, Victoria, and Aquinas College in Perth, Western Australia.
2. Rugby was his number 1 priority
Jack started playing rugby at the age of eight, playing the sport from year six to year twelve of his schooling. Meanwhile, alongside his older brother Josh, Maddalena also watched a lot of MMA videos and practiced the sport at home.
The brothers later joined a boxing gym when Jack was 14. Moreover, Jack said their father wanted them to use the gym to improve their fitness for the rugby season.
Interestingly, Jack and Josh fell in love with the technicality of boxing, and they both became drawn to the sport. They kept playing rugby at school but later made the transition into full-time MMA training.
3. Jack Della Maddalena went Pro in 2016
On March 12, 2016, Maddalena faced off against Aldin Bates in his professional debut, losing by TKO in the third round.
He also lost his next fight against Darcy Vendy via submission in the first round, before accumulating a nine-fight winning streak whilst securing the Eternal Welterweight Championship and defending it four times.
Although his professional career didn’t exactly get off to a great start, the athlete realized that the most important thing for him was learning how to take losses as part of the game and also trying to make adjustments from lessons learned so that he could push through tough times.
4. Della made his UFC debut in 2022
On January 22, 2022, at UFC 270, Della Maddalena was supposed to make his UFC debut against middleweight champion Warlley Alves from The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. However Alves pulled out for unknown reasons, and Pete Rodriguez, a promotional newcomer, took his place and won the fight by TKO in the first round.
On June 11, 2022, Ramazan Emeev and Della Maddalena squared off at UFC 275. In the opening round, Jack won by TKO and with this victory, he was given the Performance of the Night prize.
The professional Australian fighter continued to put up impressive performances in the UFC and was scheduled to face Kevin Holland in a historic match slated for September 16, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 227.
5. Jack has pledged to remain in Australia forever
Della Maddalena said when asked to sell himself to the Australian sporting public that he is an Australian and he’ll never leave Australia. According to the fighter, he will be here forever, representing his people and encouraging Australians who have dreams of becoming professional MMA fighters.

6. MMA isn’t His full-time job
When asked if MMA is his full-time job, Jack responded by saying he also works at a company called Key Factors and his role is basically analyzing companies’ ability to make payment of invoices. Although this job is very different from MMA, he said it is a good balance as being in an office really gets him excited to go and train at night and in the morning.
7. Fighting inspires him a lot
According to Jack, he fights because it’s a way he can put in a lot of hard work and cannot cheat himself. He further said that he really enjoys the freedom of fighting. To him, there is a rule set however there are no rules on what style he can employ. He also said that he just loves competing, and the buzz he gets from the competition is like nothing else he has experienced.

Michelle Della Maddalena, originally Michelle Hein, is Jack’s wife. According to reports, the couple began dating in December 2016 and got engaged back in March 2022. Also, according to evidence from Michelle’s I.G., the pair tied the knot the same year in a gorgeous, outdoor ceremony. The union is currently blessed with a son named Franco Jean Della Maddalena.
9. How tall is he?
Della stands at a height of 5 ft 11 in (180 cm). At 5ft 11 in, Della’s height is optimal for his welterweight class. Meanwhile, the boxer also weighs 170 lb (77kg) and has a reach of 73 in (185 cm).
