William Paul Yarbrough Story is an American footballer who has played as a goalkeeper all his life and is renowned for his prowess in stopping strikers from moving past him and finding the back of the net. He is especially famed for the intuitive saves he makes for Leon, a popular Mexican club.
The footballer who is now more simply called William Yarbrough has been influential in both his club and national football team.
William Yarbrough Biography
Born on March 20, 1989, Yarbrough is half American, half Mexican. The footballer was born in Mexico, a development that automatically makes him a citizen of the country. However, his parents are not Mexicans; they are Americans.
After his birth, Yarbrough was raised by his parents in Aguascalientes, the capital city of Aguascalientes, a state in Mexico. It was here that he went to school and learned his skills in football.
The footballer was born to a father named Lee Yarbrough and a mother called Stacy Story. The father and mother are both Americans but immigrated to Mexico before William was born. Yarbrough’s parents are missionaries who made up their minds to stay back in Mexico and preach Christianity to the people there after having their honeymoon in the North American country. They raised their kids strictly to obey the Bible.
William Yarbrough is the second to the last born in his family. He has three brothers; two older than he is and one younger than him. However, unlike his brothers who are all living in the USA, Yarbrough continues to live and play football in Mexico.
Early Footballing Days
He began playing football quite early in life. In fact, he started trying out his legs with the ball when he was just six years old. He began with Gallos de Aguascalientes which was a club in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He continued playing there till he got a lot older. In 2005 when he was about 16 years old, he was invited for a trial with the Under-17 team of C.F. Pachuca, another Mexican club. Yarbrough later signed for them and played for nearly 5 years till 2010.
In 2010, the goalkeeper was loaned out to Jaibos Tampico Madero which happens to be his very first senior team. He would play on loan till July 2011. During this time, he played about 38 matches.
After leaving Jaibos Tampico Madero, he moved to Titanes Tulancingo on yet another loan.
William Yarbrough Moves To Leon
In 2012, soon after joining Titanes Tulancingo, Yarbrough got loaned out to Leon, a popular football club in Mexico. It was in Leon that his best exploits have been recorded and broadcast.

Yarbrough was loaned to Leon during the 2012-2013 season however he did not play any league match at the 2012 Apertura tournament. He however soon began playing matches for the club and became pretty much the star goalkeeper. He became the starting goalkeeper for the club until the end of the Clausura tournament in 2013.
After a while, Yarbrough finally signed a permanent contract with Leon. He then went on to become the team’s starting goalkeeper for most of the matches played over the following seasons. He was starting goalkeeper for both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. The goalkeeper was very influential in Leon, helping them win two Liga MX titles.
Yarbrough continued his exploits in the 2015 Apertura and 2016 Clausura tournaments, helping Leon finish in third place. His many exploits which include making dramatic saves and keeping clean sheets have seen him become very respected in Mexico. In fact, it is on record that he has kept the cleanest sheets in Liga MX and has also made the most saves as a goalkeeper. He is also recorded to have a pass accuracy of 54%.
Yarbrough’s International career
William Yarbrough got called up to the Mexico U20 national team in 2007 and gladly accepted it. He, however, insisted at the time that even though he played for the Mexico U20 team, the situation did not mean that he preferred it to the U.S. national team. According to him, he was eligible to represent both teams. And so, despite playing for the Mexican national team, he got called up to play for the U.S. and was accepted.
In March 2015, the goalkeeper was first called up to the United States national team, making a first appearance from the bench against Denmark. In a match against Switzerland, he was made to substitute Nick Rimando, a respected goalkeeper, after the first half.
Yarbrough has gone on to play more games for the United States, making quite an impressive showing.

Currently, William Yarbrough is reported to stand at the height of 6’2″ and weighs about 165 lbs.

Having enjoyed some success in Liga MX, William Yarbrough is expected to have acquired some considerable wealth, however, we do not have the goalkeeper’s exact net worth at the moment.
