Tama Tonga is an American wrestler who made his debut in 2008. Real name Alipate Aloisio Leone, the Tonga professional wrestler currently slugs it out in the Japanese professional wrestling promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). He is from a line of wrestlers with his father and siblings all in the business.

Alipate Aloisio Leone who has come to be known as Tama Tonga was born on the 15th of October, 1982; his birth took place in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. Tama did not grow up with his birth parents as he was adopted by his mother’s sister alongside his brother, Taula. When he was taken in by his aunt and her husband, the family moved to Florida, where he lived with his cousins Tevita and Vika.

Poinciana was where he grew up and when it was time for him to go to high school he went to the local high school. Tama’s decision to go into wrestling was one he made with his younger brother when both of them shared a phone call.

By 2008 the two brothers decided to star to train in wrestling, this training began in January of that year and by November they made their debut. When Tama’s career began he and his brother made up a tag team and chose to call themselves The Sons of Tonga. The tag team existed for more than three months and when Tevita, the other half of the tag team was chosen by WWE Tama continued to wrestle but only on his own.

By 2010, he decided to move to Japan where he joined the New Japan Pro-Wrestling company; he was at first only using their training services, before the company decided to employ him. He was in Japan for two years before he moved to Mexico to join the competitive wrestling scene in the country but by the end of the year.

When he was in Mexico, Leone was working with the wrestling company that has an affiliation with the company he worked within Japan, he was there for a year before he went back to Japan and then back to Mexico. Regardless of his constant moves between Japan and Mexico, Tama Tonga has had a brilliant career where he has had his wins and losses, all of which have defined his ten-year career.
