Out of her thirty years on earth, this Australian wrestler has spent about seventeen years on her career. Tenille Dashwood started chasing her dreams from the age of 13 when most little girls her age were still playing with their dolls. When you think of breaking barriers, you should probably think of Dashwood. Being the first female Australian wrestler to be signed unto WWE is no mean feat. However, it has not been all rosy for this Australian beauty. Here’s her story.
Tenille Dashwood Bio
Tenille Dashwood was born in the suburb of Melbourne known as Boronia, Victoria, Australia, on the 1st of March, 1989. Irrespective of the fact that much isn’t known about her parents, it is no news that she has an older brother called Jack, who introduced her to the world of wrestling when she was eight. She started training professionally when she turned thirteen and from then till she was fifteen, she focused on learning and being a better wrestler.
When she became sixteen, branded by the ring name Valentine, she made some appearances for the Australian Wrestling Promotion, PWA Australia. Afterward, she suffered a severe shoulder injury which restricted her to just setting up the ring at events and generally helping out. It is interesting to note that Dashwood had not been consistent with her ring name. Over the years, she moved from Valentine to her real name, and then to Emma.
Determined to upgrade her skills and career, Tenille Dashwood moved to Canada in early 2008 to train with the Canadian professional wrestler, Lance Storm, at the Storm Wrestling Academy where she remained until September of the same year; when she returned to Australia and continued to wrestle. Dashwood still committed to her career, returned to the Storm Wrestling Academy for further training. There, she was starred alongside ten other trainees in the World of Hurt reality television show.
One could say that Dashwood’s career kicked off, and she took it more seriously when she signed a contract with WWE(World Wrestling Entertainment). That was when she took the decision to undergo surgery for the shoulder injury which had somewhat limited her performance. She relocated to Tampa, Florida and reported to WWE’s FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling), where her first performance was a battle royal. Her career flourished as she continued to appear in Raw and Smackdown.
On the 29th of October 2017, her contract with WWE terminated, but that did not end the career of Tenille Dashwood. Soon enough, other brands signed her up to appear on their shows. Her first post WWE appearance drew lots of crowd and praise. Through the years, Dashwood won some victories in her matches and also lost some.
