Eyabi Anoma is a very bright spark in college football that recklessness and indiscipline is threatening to put out even before he turns into a brilliant glowing flame. He was once touted as one of the best prospects in football, who many thought would become a truly world-class player in the future, but his lack of drive and desire in his academics has thrown spanners in the works of his progress and development.
He is currently with the University of Tennessee college football team, and his demeanour here could either propel him back up the path to the NFL or relegate his name into total obscurity. He has promised to turn a new leaf and not get kicked out of his third school, and we all hope he keeps his word and puts up his best displays and behaviours to forge ahead in his life and career.
Biography Of Eyabi Anoma
Eyabi Anoma was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States of America, and is known to celebrate his birthday on the 6th of June every year, even though he has not made his actual birth year public. Not much is known about his parents, except that his father is Cal Anoma, and even though he makes reference to his mother via his social media handles, not much is really known about her.
He grew up with 5 siblings but only the names (and their athletic activities) of his look-alike sisters – Tabi and Amiya Anoma were revealed to the public.
He went to St Frances Academy and was reported to favour playing basketball while he was in high school until a particular American football convinced and pressurized him to drop schooling hoops for making crunching tackles.
After he took up football, his game continued to improve in leaps and bounds culminating in his acceptance into college to pursue collegiate football and if he proves his worth, turn into a professional footballer in the future.
His Nascent Rise to Fame And Popularity
After he finished high school, he was at that time the number 4 overall recruit (collegiate) and number 2 highest defensive player overall pick in the entire country, and great things were expected of him in the future of the sport.
Several colleges wanted him and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide team of the NCAA eventually got him, and they expected that he would transition into one of the best defensive players in the future for them. He played 6 games for the team that season, recording 9 tackles.
His problems began with the school and the team at about the same time. He was having problems putting in the required academic work while in school and was also violating team rules at the same time. Consequently, he was dismissed from the school and had to leave the team as well.
His Second Wobble And Tumble
He transferred to the University of Houston but had to sit out the entire season due to NCAA regulation, with the school expecting so much from him especially due to his physical attributes and game. He couldn’t prove his worth to this team until he also ran into some problems with both the school and the team.
He was reported to have skipped registration and classes altogether, severally clashing with his teammates and violating team rules just as he had previously done with the Crimson Tide. He was eventually dismissed from the school in February 2020, and his slide down the road of oblivion due to his indiscipline began to become clearer. At this point in his fledgeling career, no school or team wanted to pick or snap him up and there seemed no way of recovery back for him.
Path to the NFL and Fame/Fortune nearly closed
For a player that was once regarded as a VIP pick in college football, he seems to have fallen very far down the order and was only extended a “make or break” offer by the University of Tennessee, UT Martin Skyhawks football team.
people believe that this would probably be his last chance to build himself back up again and be able to make a future in football and that if he were to get thrown out of this school and team, he might as well seek ways to make his living elsewhere.
Apologies to previous teams and their staff
While being presented as a UT Martin player, he took the opportunity to offer his heartfelt apologies to both the staff and players of his previous teams – University of Alabama and Houston, for all his actions while he was with them.
He acknowledged that as a young man he didn’t really take ownership of his actions and that he could have done better while he was with them. He also thanked his present team while pledging his future to them, he was also full of thanks to his family, friends and fans for still believing in him.
