Imagine being the second American player to win the Boy’s Single title at the French Open and also bagging a beautiful tennis player. This is the story of Bjorn Fratangelo who reached a ranking height of No. 99 in his Tennis Career (the highest so far for him).
In addition to his Singles ATP and Grand Slam records, Bjorn has also played in Grand Slam Doubles with his girlfriend, Madison Keys, twice. It was such a great experience for the couple in 2021 that they repeated it in 2022.
Finding new tournaments to overcome together, Bjorn Fratangelo and Madison Keys decided to try marriage. The couple got engaged in March of 2023 and are playing more grand slams in their relationship.
Borjn Fratangelo Has Italian Roots
Madison Key’s boyfriend, Bjorn, was born on July 19, 1993, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. He was born to Mario P. Fratangelo who was his tennis coach from when he was very young, and Pamela Fratangelo nee Schirano.
Bjorn’s known sibling is Maria Fratangelo and his family hails from Italy. Both the Fratangelo and Schirano names are peculiar to the Italians. Back in 1940, Bjorn’s last name became rampant in the United States and the people who bore the name were laborers, sales reps, truck drivers, and laundry ironers.
Mario started coaching his son on Tennis when he noticed Bjorn had a passion for it at the age of 3. Like he was born and groomed for this career, the young man was named after the tennis champion, Bjorn Borg.
Fratangelo attended St. John the Baptist School located in Plum but by the time he was 8 years old, he switched. Then, in 2001, he moved to Naples, Florida where he took tennis training seriously.
While Bjorn Fratangelo trained intensely, he also took online courses at Barron Collier High School.
The Tennis Player Moved to Madison Key’s State for His Pro Career
Although Bjorn Fratangelo was born in Pittsburgh and started his career there, he had to move to Boca Roton when his career took off. Madison Keys was born in Rock Island, Illinois but moved to Boca Raton when she was 10 years old.
His move to Boca Raton happened shortly before he turned tennis pro in 2013. However, he still moved from here to Orlando and Keys joined him a month later.
Prior to 2013, Madison Key’s boyfriend had a stellar junior career he sparsely played on the ITF Pro Circuit from 2009. By 2011, he became started playing regularly and even made it to the 2011 US Open qualifiers.
As a junior tennis player, Fratangelo won the boys’ singles title at the French Open in 2011. With this win, he was elevated to a junior ranking career high of No. 2.
By 2013, he became a pro and reached the semifinals of the USA F2 event at Sunrise, Florida.
By 2016-2017, Madison Key’s boyfriend eventually made it to his first grand slam and top 100 list. As of 2023, his highest ranking of No. 99 which he achieved on June 6, 2016.
The 31-year-old currently trains under Coach Eric Nunez.

Bjorn Fratangelo and 29-year-old Madison Keys have been in a relationship since (December) 2017. When they are not on the court playing, they are with each other doing what people in relationships do. The tennis couple started training at the same facility when he moved to Boca Raton.
Even though they do not currently play in the same tournament with Keys being in the top 20 and her man in the top 100, they still make out time for themselves and their relationship.
On March 2, 2023, Madison posted a picture of her engagement ring after Bjorn proposed to her. This proposal came as a birthday gift according to the Pennsylvania-born. Madison Keys was born on February 17, 1995, and was given an engagement ring for her 28th birthday.
Bjorn proposed to Madison Keys, the current WTA No. 18 in their living room and they brought the news to social media. Madison posted a picture of her hand on Bjorn’s while flaunting the ring. The picture was captioned ‘Forever’ with an accompanying white heart emoji. This upload brought about a lot of expressions from fans, followers, and friends.
5 feet 11 inches tall Bjorn and his 5 feet 10 inches tall fiancé also take their love to the court. Asides from showcasing how great they are as a couple in their everyday life, they also joined forces on the court.
Bjorn Fatangelo and Madison Keys have played in the US Open in mixed doubles together. This first happened in 2021 and it happened again in 2022 when they reached the second round of the tournament.
