Brad Nessler Biography

Brad Ray Nessler on the 3rd of June, 1956 in St. Charles Minnesota, United States. While the name of his father is Bob Nessler, there is nothing given about his mother or siblings.

He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, and graduated with a BA degree in Broadcasting. While growing up in Minnesota, he developed an interest in broadcasting and so he later got his break with Atlanta Radio.

Brad Nessler married Nancy Nessler in 1978  and they have been together for over three decades. Their wedding took place on December 1, 1978, in the presence of their close friends and family.

The couple has a daughter named Reis. They welcomed their first and only child Reis on June 5, 1987. Reis has a girlfriend whose name is Amber and a dog pet which she calls Lola.

After his college, Nessler made his broadcasting debut playing second fiddle to by switching duties with famous Al Ciraldo on Georgia Tech basketball WGAT-AM that was way back in 1980, later in 1982 he presented the play-play for the Atlanta Falcons still on WGST. He was also instrumental in calling for the Miami Dolphins’ preseason at some point.

Nessler has also done play-by-play calling for ACC football and basketball telecasts for Jefferson-Pilot. While in 1990 to 1991 he has worked for CBS Sports calling the NFL games as well as college football and college basketball for both men’s and women’s categories.

ESPN

As his competence grows stronger by the passing of each day, Nessler then joined ESPN that was in 1992 that was under college basketball as well as the Big Ten Thursday night football tournaments. Consequently, EA Sports could not help it than to feature Nessler as a commentator in their NCAA Football series annually.

ABC

Nessler’s fame grew in large proportions that in 1997, he engaged with the ABC still calling in college football, while there, he was ranked as the 3rd best play-by-play commentator after the likes of Keith Jackson and Brent Musburger, and he eventually took the number 2 position when Jackson left for the West Coast games in 1999, however, he attained the height of his career when he became the number 1 Saturday afternoon play-by-play man from 2006 to 2008 seasons.

This made ESPN take the decision of making Nessler their major play-by-play personnel saddled with covering the college football on the station’s Primetime game aired in the evening.

NBA

As of 2002, Nessler has switched to calling NBA  games, he called in the 2003 NBA finals where there were some little misgivings about his strategies  the New York Times’s Richard

And then by 2006, Nessler was key in making a play-by-play commentary during the SEC games in the Thursday Night showcase and the super Tuesday programs.

Again, Nessler worked featured in a Monday Night Football game alongside other commentators such as Trent And Suzy Kolber.

Together they took part in calling the match between San Diego Chargers against Kansas Chiefs as well as the game between Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos the first and second game of the week respectively.

NFL

By May 2011 the NFL Network was his next point of duty while there he called Thursday Night Football broadcasts he paired with Mike Mayock for an eight-game encounter package, but then he subsequently continued to call spanning to 2012, 2013 and later CBS Sports hijacked the telecast during the 2014 NFL seasons that was when Nessler made a return back to the CBS Networks.

Return to CBS

The CBS Network felt the vacuum created by the absence of Nessler when he left and saw the need to have him back at all cost thus, it was on the 31st of May 2016 that CBS Sports released an official statement of the return of Nessler to the network and this time he is to fully handle the play-by-play commentary for the SEC College football games during the 2017 season.

He is to work in partnership with Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce, and in due course, Nessler was involved in making a play-by-play for college basketball. His first SEC game call after his return on CBS was in Florida on November 5, 2016. However, in 2018 he was able to call his first NCAA March Madness for TBS.
