Justin Herbert’s parents are Mark Herbert and Holly Herbert. His father was a former football player and track runner at the University of Montana in the 1980s and played the role of a coach to him and his two brothers; Mitchell and Patrick, while his mother was there to watch, support, and encourage. Thanks to their backing and motivation, their second youngest son Justin is currently playing for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League after he was drafted by the team in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Even though there isn’t much information about their personal and private lives, his career and the recognition put them in the limelight. Here is what we have been able to gather about them.
Meet Justin Herbert’s Parents
Mark Herbert
- Date of birth: May 9, 1965
- Age: 59 years old
- Place of birth: Eugene, Oregon
Justin Herbert’s father Mark Herbert was born on May 9, 1965, in Eugene, Oregon, to Roger Herbert, a former track and field coach at Sheldon High School, and his wife. He is currently 59 years old.
Mark grew up in Eugene where he attended Sheldon High School, and competed in three sporting activities. In 1983 after graduating as an all-state wide receiver, he went to the University of Montana on a scholarship to play football and run track if an opportunity presented itself.
When he first came to Montana, he almost failed his physical test due to a history of head, shoulder, and neck problems. He eventually made it through, but an injury he sustained two weeks before the start of fall camp robbed him of the opportunity to play for the Montana Grizzlies.
Consequently, he relinquished football and replaced his football scholarship with a half scholarship for track. He spent the rest of his time at the university running track mainly as a hurdler and sometimes participating in long and triple jumps.
By 1986, he retired from running track and returned to Eugene. It was speculated that he was pressured by friends and his desire to be close to home and the opportunity to attend Oregon, where he initially to go before it became obvious they will not offer him a scholarship.
Since his own career didn’t materialize despite his dexterity, he made sure that his three sons; Mitchell, Justin, and Patrick didn’t repeat the mistake he made more than three decades ago. So, he was there to mentor, coach, and guide them.

Going further, there are no details relating to her career, however, she plays a vital role in her son’s career. She was credited with always motivating Justin when he was young and also encouraging him to go to the stadium.
A practical example of this was the advice she and her husband offered their Son Justin when his football career was taking him out of Eugene for the first time. They told him to go and take charge and if he needs anything, they will always be there.
