Kaylee was born on November 7, 1985, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is yet to reveal details about her parents or family life, however, there have been some uncorroborated revelations claiming that she is the daughter of Joe Hartung, a pilot who died tragically in a plane crash in Lafayette. Kaylee Hartung was only 10 years old at the time, and she is yet to comment on the veracity of this claim.
The future journalist became interested in the field while she was a student at Episcopal High School. After graduation, she moved on to Washington and Lee University where she bagged a degree in journalism and politics in 2007.
After leaving college, Kaylee began an internship with NBC, as an associate producer on a public affairs program that aired every Sunday called Face The Nation.
