He reached a career-high combined ranking of 38 in the international tennis federation’s world junior ranking. He also had a compiled singles win/loss record of 73-44 as a junior.
He made his professional career debut in 2015 and he played mainly in the ITF Futures tour throughout the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He won his first ITF Futures singles title in June 2015 in Mozambique F2, he also won his first ITF Futures Doubles title that same month. He reached 5 ITF Futures tour singles finals and won 4 out of them. He won 6 out of the 8 ITF Futures tour finals he reached in2016.
In 2017, he competed on the ATP Challenger tour and reached his first challenger tour semi-finals in japan. He also reached the challenger semi-finals in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, and the quarter-finals in Vancouver, Canada. And later in June, he qualified for his first ATP World Tour event in Antalya, turkey but unfortunately lost in the first round to world No.61 Janko Tipsarevic. Then in August, he had his first experience of an ATP Masters 1000 event.
In 2018, Harris reached 4 ITF Futures tour finals and won 3. He later reached the ATP Challenger quarter-finals at the Kunming Open in china and the Samarkand challenger in Uzbekistan. The rest of the year was quite successful for the player especially during the American hard-court summer season where he had his first ATO Challenger title in Lexington and also reached the Nordic Naturals Challenger Final in Aptos, CA, U.S.A.
Harris qualified for his first Grand Slam main-draw in the senior men’s level and defeated JC Aragone in the third qualifying round for the US Open. He also defeated Roberto Quiroz in the first round of the qualifying draw and also Sebastian Ofner of Austria in the second round but lost in the main draw first round against Gilles Simon the world No. 40. He had his major break when he defeated Gael Monfils during the first round of the Chengdu Open in China. It was his first win over a top 40 player.
He won his second ATP Challenger title of the year on 7 October 2018 when he defeated Marc Polmans at Stockton Challenger, CA, USA, and was also named as an alternate for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, Italy. At the beginning of 2019, he reached the quarter-finals of the City of Playford Tennis International on the ATP Challenger Tour. He qualified for his second Grand Slam main draw at a senior men’s singles level in January 2019 after he defeated Dustin brown in the third qualifying round for the Australian Open. Harris reached his 100th spot in the ATP Ranking due to his victory at the Launceston tennis international in February. At that point, he made the top 100 for the first time in his career history.
Harris won the first set against Roger Federer in July at Wimbledon before he, unfortunately, lost in 4 sets in the opening round. He went further to climb the success ladder by marking his first-ever ATP 250 semi-final in September and eventually reached the semi-final of the Chengdu Open in China.
Earlier in 2021, he reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open and moved to reach the first ATP 500 while clinging to several victories that saw him becoming No. 52 in the world of tennis singles. He later exceeded and reached the top 40 in the world in the sport.
