The Italian boxer was born on June 5, 1979, in Cesena, Italy. His parents are Secondo Signani and Luci Donati while his siblings are older sisters, Rafaella and Alba. From his sisters, the boxer has a nephew and niece.
Rafaella is married to a man identified as Fabrizio and together they bore a son named Tommaso. Alba also has a daughter named Martina.
Matteo, on the other hand, is known to be a father of 3 dogs and a cat. Tyson and Lady Oscar are 2 English bulldogs owned by Signani and he also has an Amstaff female dog named Clara. The boxer adopted the cat Micia after she was found in a garbage can.

When Matteo Signani was just 15 years old, he decided to be more invested in sporting activities. His interest in sports led him to box in 1994 and he went on to compete in the welterweight category, kg. 71, as ‘novice B’.
Signani was nicknamed ‘The Jaguar’ or Giaguaro and was one of the few Italian boxers who was named the Italian Champion for a long time. He won the title 6 times and 5 were in a row.
As an amateur, the Italian boxer fought almost 130 matches in the Super welter category. Soon after, he joined the first series of the middleweight kg. 75.
The Jaguar competed in the Italian Amateur Absolute Championship in 2004 and about 22 other games afterward.
By April 1, 2007, Matteo had gotten to the professional level and his first professional match was against Christian Nichitelea whom he beat.
Since then, he has fought over 40 matches, won more than 30 of said matches, and only lost a few.

In 1997/1998, the then-amateur boxer started a military career by joining the Coast Guard of Italy. He served under the ‘Guardia Costiera’ Port Authority of Rimini. Notably, he is one of the employees of the Maritime Police Section and enjoyed his service there.
Matteo even rose to the position of Deputy Chief of the Italian Coast Guard Port Authorities.
He is still very much invested in his career as a Coast Guard as he flies the color of the corps on his boxing wears. He also admits that the corps has helped him in his boxing career.

Matteo’s Signani was to Defend his title in April 2023
Matteo Signani is 5 feet 10 inches tall and is fluent in the Orthodox stance of boxing. He has won about 11 matches by KOs and this is evidence that he is quite good at said stance.
With his reach of 178 cm, he has been able to defeat the likes of Anderson Prestot, Ruben Diaz, and Riccardo Lecca.
He would have had the chance to add one more win to his table if the match scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023, was not canceled. The reason for the cancellation of the game was due to Felix Cash’s (Matteo’s opponent) withdrawal.
Felix withdrew from the game based on health challenges. The resulting consequence of this is an adjustment in the matches and it brings the game between Galal Yafai vs Moises Calleros closer.
This fight was for the European Middleweight title that Matteo has held since 2019.
