Sean announced his retirement from coaching in 2022. He had a successful career with many teams including the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints.
His tenure with the Saints remains the highlight of his career. When he signed with the team in 2006, the team was quite relegated but under his leadership, he led the team to the top spot again.

Years before the two became a couple, Payton almost finished his career as one of the NFL’s top coaches when he was involved in a scandal known as the Saints Bounty Gate scandal. This program was a club-orchestrated scheme to pay off players who intentionally injure other players out of the game.
As the head coach of the Saints, Payton also came under fire for his involvement. Notably, the investigations which covered the 2009-2012 season led to his suspension for one year. As a result, he lost the 2012 Superbowl making him the first NFL head coach to be suspended in recent times.
He reportedly lost over $7 million out of his $8 million salary due to the suspension.
