Tiffany Haddish’s parents are an Eritrean Jewish father named Tsihaye Reda Haddish and an African-American mother, Leola, who was a Jehova Witness believer. They had their only child, Tiffany in 1979 but were not totally in her life and she had to move to a foster home and lived for some time on the streets.
While Tiffany’s parents may not be famous, they became known as a result of their daughter’s fame as one of America’s most hilarious comedians and actors. Tifanny is the second African-American woman to ever win the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album and is most famous for her roles in movies such as Girls Trip (2018), Like a Boss (2020), and The Last O.G. (2019).

Tsihaye was Tiffany Haddish’s father and was of Ethiopian Jewish heritage. He was born on January 20, 1954, in Eritrea, Eastern Africa before he moved to the United States as a refugee.
On December 3, 1979, when he was 25, Tsihaye had Tiffany with his then spouse Leola. In 1982 when his actress daughter was 3, the Eritrean walked out of her life as well as that of her mother.
He only returned when Tiffany was 27 with the help of her ex-husband, William Stewart. After they met, Tsihaye walked Tiffany down the aisle at her 2008 wedding with Stewart.
The actress offered that he stayed at her home so she could take care of him. However, he left after a while only to return later. According to her, she became unsure if she wanted to have him in her life again.
Well, Tsihaye died on May 11 2017 in Chico, Butte County, California at the age of 63, after suffering heart failure and pneumonia.
Tiffany’s Mother is African American
As stated, the mother of the celebrated comedian is Leola Wright. While details about her date of birth and early life all remain elusive, it is known that she is of African American descent.
Following the demise of her first marriage, Leola got married to a man who became Tiffany’s stepfather and the father of her 2 half-sisters and 2 half-brothers.
While they were still married, it has been revealed that Leola’s then-husband allegedly tampered with the brakes of her car to cause an accident that would kill the mother and her children. This was so he gets the life insurance policies of Leola and her children.
On the day he tampered with the brakes, Leola was fortunate enough to leave the house without the children. The accident left her with severe brain damage that led to schizophrenia.
The mental disorder affected Leola who would sometimes become aggressive and abusive.
The Ordeals of Tiffany’s Parents Led to Her Facing Many Challenges
The action of Tiffany’s father affected her in a variety of ways. First, she was raised by her mother and maternal grandmother before her mother became involved with another man and had more children.
After Leola’s struggled with a mental disorder, Tiffany became the caregiver of her 4 younger half-siblings.
By the time Tiff turned 13, life became even tougher and she was forced to move to a foster home. In a similar manner, her siblings were also taken to different care homes.
At 15, Tiffany moved back to her grandmother’s alongside her siblings. She, however, did not find life easy and had to come face to face with school bullies amidst other hurdles.
By the time she was 17, Tiffany Haddish, who has been accused of molestation of a minor, was reportedly raped by a Police Cadet and it affected her in many ways.

Tiffany Hadish Has Taken a Long Walk to Forgive Her Parents and Honored Them in Different Ways
Despite the hurt that the American actress may have endured as a result of whatever happened in her life that may be a result of her parents’ deeds, she chose the path of forgiveness.
Following the death of her father, she honored him by going to Eritrea, burying his remains in the country, and also meeting his relatives. She also dressed in an Eritarian manner to attend the 2018 Oscars awards to honor Tsihaye.
On the part of her mother, she attested that things had fallen apart between them. Yet, she still loved her. The actress further took her mother out of the mental facility, bought her a home, and intended to give her good care.
Tiffany Haddish’s parents may have not been in her life all the time but the actress and comedian revealed her love for them. Her Eritrean father contributed to Tiffany being 1 of 4 children in America to be brought up without a father figure. Her mother, on the other hand, is one of the 1.2% of Americans that have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
