Tobin Heath is an American female professional footballer who has played both locally and internationally for her country. She has won the admiration of many people over the years with her amazing skills and has been described as one of the USA’s most skillful players.
Heath has participated in different competitions including the Olympics, winning the Gold Medal twice, and bronze once. She has also won the FIFA Women’s World Cup twice. Tobin Heath Biography
On May 29th, 1988 in Morristown, New Jersey United States, Tobin Powell was born to Jeff and Cindy Heath. Heath was raised alongside a younger brother and two older sisters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. At the age of four, she had already shown interest in football and played with other kids.
Heath played for Ridge High School before graduation. However, she only played for three years while she was still a junior student. She quit playing as a senior but was still training. In 2003, she was one of the PDA Wildcats that won the National Championship.

Upon completing high school, Heath went to the University of North Carolina where she started to play at competitions again. She was part of the All-America 2006 national championship team and made 23 appearances at left midfield (starting 22 of them), scoring four goals and assisting nine. As a sophomore, she scored two goals, assisting another five, and was named to the First-Team NSCAA All-American and First-Team All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference).
As a junior, she scored eight goals with eight assists, which helped UNC to a 25–1–2 record and the NCAA title.
Tobin Heath’s Club Career
Heath signed for the New Jersey Wildcats, then known as the PSA Wildcats in 2004, and played with the team till 2006 Heath. While there she helped the team win the USL W-League Championship in 2005 and be crowned USL W-League Runners-Up in 2004.
In 2007, she joined Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues and helped the team finish the season second in their division and made it to the 2007 Conference Semifinal. Two years later in 2009, she played for just one season with California’s Pali Blues, helping them to win the USL W-League Western Conference title and the W-League Championship title.
In the year 2010, after she became the first overall pick in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) 2010 college draft, Heath was selected by Atlanta Beat. However, she did not give much to the team because she suffered an injury to her right ankle in her third appearance for the team. Consequently, she missed the remainder of the 2010 season and was later traded to Sky Blue FC.
On May 23, 2013, after short stints with Sky Blue FC and New York Fury, Heath signed a six-month contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the top-tier French league, Division 1 Féminine until the end of the season. She went on to bang in five goals in the twelve appearances she made for the club.
After she had completed the season with Paris-Saint Germain, Heath joined the Portland Thorns FC in July 2013 and did very well, helping them attain a third-place finish in the NWSL. She continued her exploits, helping The Thorns to win the 2013 NWSL Championship after defeating the Western New York Flash 2–0. Interestingly, Heath was the one who scored the game-winning goal from a direct free-kick. That season she was voted as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the championship game. Heath continued playing with the Thorns till 2020, making 79 appearances and scoring 15 goals.
On September 9, 2020, she signed a one-year contract with Manchester United of the FA Women’s Super League. Her contract with the WSL side ended in June 2021, and she won’t be playing for the side after the Tokyo Olympics.
International Career
Tobin Heath has made huge contributions to the US national team. The footballer has played on several youth national teams – including the U-16s in 2003–2004 and the U-17s in 2004–05. In 2006, Heath showed class during the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship in Russia. This was even though she was one of the last players chosen for the World Cup roster. She banged in five goals in 24 appearances for the USA Women’s U-20 National TeamU-20s in 2006.
Heath was also part of the silver medal-winning USA Women’s team at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil where she was in the starting lineup for the championship game. Heath made it to the senior women’s national team in 2008 after a series of international competitions she played for the country during which she played against many countries and earned a Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympics.
