Luna Vachon’s Early Life

Luna Vachon, whose birth name is actually Gertrude Elizabeth Vachon, was born on the 12th of January1962 in Montreal, Canada.  She was born into a wrestling family. Luna’s family, the Vachon family is a French-Canadian family that has long associated with professional wrestling in Canada and the United States. It was only natural for Luna Vachon to adopt the family tradition and go into wrestling.

As a child, Luna Vachon used to attend some wrestling events where she play in the ring and this often resulted in training with various World Wide Wrestling Federation stars. However, even though she showed interest in wrestling from an early age, her family objected to her entering the wrestling business and tried to dissuade her. This was because they considered wrestling at that time to be too harsh for a female. However, Luna Vachon was adamant on doing her thing.

Her Exploits In The Wrestling World

Luna Vachon began training at the age of 16 with her aunt Vivian and the fabulous Moolah before beginning her career in full in 1985. Her first on-screen role was as a TV reporter named Trudy Herd who was in Florida to interview FCW wrestler Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan instead brainwashed her into becoming “Luna”, a cultist in his “army of darkness” resulting in her uncommon makeover and trademark static voice.

She was teamed with a famous wrestler, The Lock thereby forming the Daughters of Darkness team, a part of Sullivan’s Army. When the team broke up, she moved around an independent circle as a manager forming the aptly named Blackhearts, Apocalypse (with David Heath) & destruction (W/rom wash) She made her PPV debut in the street fight lingerie battle royal at the AWA’s super cash III.

They teamed up against Raven and Stevie Richards to challenge for the ECW World tag team titles but was unsuccessful although two weeks later Luna defeated Richard’s in a cage match at heatwave.

Luna disappeared from TV for a little while and in 1998, she came back strong as ‘princess Luna’ of the oddities. Along the way, Luna was difficult and uncontrollable to work with, and having a series of fights backstage and everywhere she was released for good in 2000.
