Holland coach Louis van Gaal has revealed that his long battle with aggressive prostate cancer is now a thing of the past, he said this earlier this month while promoting his new documentary film titled LOUIS via a Dutch Television show called Humberto.
The two-hour documentary premiered on the 11th of April, will subsequently be released on the 14th of the same as put together by a Dutch reporter, Geertjan Lassche with the tagline ‘The man behind the legend’
The former Manchester United manager said his journey to overcoming cancer has been a daunting one having undergone a total of 25 radiation therapy throughout the process.
He further stated that he had initially kept his players in the dark about his medical condition for a long period of time. According to him, he had to sneak out to the hospital most of his time as a manager without anyone knowing. He did this in order not to allow his condition to influence the choice and decisiveness of his team.
Louis van Gaal Was Given Preferential Treatment in the Hospital
Van Gaal has paid tribute to all the medical staff who graciously gave him preferential treatment when he had appointments with them in the hos[ital.
He said he was often permitted to go in through the rear door where he will subsequently be pushed to a special room and treated wonderfully.
Furthermore, the coach said though his cancer was aggressive, he knew that at least 90 percent of people don’t die from prostate cancer.
According to him, when a person is seen to have died from the condition, it is because of other intrinsic diseases. He however was able to manage the malignancy until his treatment became complete and successful.
Similarly, Louis had previously lost one of his daughters to Cancer. Obbes died in 1994 after battling the condition for some years. Unfortunately, Vaan Gaal was mocked at that time by his opponents for his daughter’s illness.
