Ismael Barroso was born Ismael Jose Barroso Bernay on January 27, 1983. He was born in El Tigre, Anzoategui in Venezuela. The boxer is currently 41 years old and doesn’t even fight like his age is a deterring factor.
2. Ismael Barroso’s Career Began in 2005
The boxer began his career in MMA at the age of 22, in 2005. He, unlike most boxers, actually started off late but his career stats so far don’t show so much for a late bloomer.
His first match was on August 13, 2005, against Carlos Cardenas and it ended in a draw. After that, the fighter did not have any match again till 3 years later, on March 31, 2008. He won this match in a knockout.
3. Won the WBA Interim Lightweight Title in at His Major Fighting Debut in 2015
After his first knockout win against Carlos in 2013, Ismael made his major debut outing on December 12, 2015. He fought against Kevin Mitchelle for the WBA interim lightweight title that was left vacant.
Barroso won the match after dealing several punches to Mitchelle who had to be administered oxygen after the match.
He then held the title of the WBA Interim Lightweight from 2015 to 2016.

The fight was supposed to be between Romero and Alberto Puello with the latter trying to defend the title. However, Puello was announced ‘champion in recess’ because he tested positive for a banned substance.
