In January 2019, Polyana was waiting outside her apartment in Rio de Janeiro when she was approached by a man demanding her phone.
The Brazilian delivered a stunning response, aiming two punches and a kick at the attacker before putting him down with a choke hold from behind despite the fact that the attacker carried a fake pistol. She said that because she knew what to do, she did not act impulsively. Until the police could make the arrest, Viana kept the man restrained.
