Also, when he turned 17, a friend convinced him to get serious about training. But there was a problem. Turner couldn’t afford the gym fees. Also, he could not afford the combat training equipment. As a result, he resorted to shadowboxing at home. He also used the couch in their home as a punching bag. This helped him develop his timing and precision.
He Went Pro in 2016 but His Opportunity in the UFC Didn’t come Easily
After devoting so much time to training at home, Jalin was able to join Team Adrenaline, which is one of Melbourne’s leading acrobatic gymnastics clubs. His time at the club greatly honed his skills, leading to his professional debut.
Turner made his UFC debut in 2016 after compiling an amateur record of 5-2. He primarily fought in his home state of California. However, things were a bit rough for him in the beginning, given that he had to do several jobs while training.
Jalin also said that he previously worked the graveyard shift at Nordstrom. His shift would start at 11 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. Afterward, he will drive from his Southern California home in San Bernardino to train with Michael Bisping in Costa Mesa before completing the 120-mile daily roundtrip by driving back to San Bernardino to train at Adrenaline MMA, which happens to be his home gym.
