Sofiane Boufal was born on September 17, 1993 in Paris, France to Moroccan parents. He grew up alongside his twin sister, Aicha and their older brother Abdeltif in Angers, a town southwest of Paris- the French capital. It was also in Angers that his experiment with football would begin.
Growing up, he honed his incredible ability to play with the ball by playing futsal at an early age. At home, Aicha was the goal keeper during their play eventhough she never took up football.
Professional Football Career of Sofiane Boufal
Sofiane Boufal began his career at the youth system of Angers SCO, a French football club. He eventually made his debut for the senior team in their match against FC Istres in August 2012. In that season, he was able to make 31 appearances for the team as he became a regular starter. In the subsequent season, Sofiane helped the club to advance from Ligue 2 level into the Ligue 1 as he netted four goals in 16 appearances for the team. His top form caught the attention of some Ligue 1 clubs who became eager to sign.
After exploring all his options, Sofiane decided to sign with Lille on January 9, 2015. He came into Ligue 1 with a hot flare as he netted three outstanding goals in 14 games.
