Elena Eremina is a Russian gymnast who gained fame in 2017 when she took the world by storm following her performances at the World Championships as well as the European Championships.

Lena, as the gymnast is famously called, was born Elena Vyacheslavovna Eremina on July 29, 2001, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was also there that she was brought up alongside her two older sisters. Her family still lives in Petersburg.

As regards her education, it has been revealed that she was homeschooled and has graduated from high school in the spring of 2018. Since then, nothing more has been revealed about her education.
3. How did she become a gymnast?
Elena has gained fame for her career, something she started building since the age of 4 when she was only a girl of 4. That was the age at which she started training.
She was drawn to the sport after she quit rhythmic gymnastics which she started at the age of three a year later because she was told by a coach that she was too big. It was from there that she transitioned to artistic gymnastics after an artistic gymnastics coach who saw her in kindergarten invited her to try.
From that point on, there was no point in her life that gymnastic was not a part.

In a career that is pretty young, Elena has come to achieve a lot for herself. Her junior career started in 2012 when she made her debut at the Dityatin Cup. She would later make her international debut at the Pas de Calais International in France. At the tournament, Elena stood out as she won the all-round, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise gold, team silver, and vault bronze medals.
She recorded great feats at the Junior Russian Championships in 2015 and then the 2016 European Championships.
After this, she started her senior career at the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2017. She would help her team to take home the bronze medal on her first day. She has gone on to appear in many other competitions but what she is still remembered for is her all-around bronze medalist finish at the Worlds in Montreal in 2017.

The best finish for Elena was becoming the all-round bronze medallist in 2017. There has been a debate that the feat was only a thing of luck. According to fellow Russian gymnastSeda Tutkhalyan, Elena was only lucky because the leaders got injured.

When she first caught the fancy of the world in 2017 as a girl of 16, the Russian impressed many when she answered the questions of journalists in English during the press conference.
Of course, this is by no means the greatest of achievements but her ability to speak the language is still worthy of praise at the time, considering she grew up in Russia and she was still pretty young.
7. Back Surgery
In February 2018, the amazing gymnast announced on her Instagram that she had back surgery to stabilize two lumbar vertebrae. She also indicated that she would need at least six months to fully rehabilitate and start doing what she loves again.

Elena is an individual who, like anyone would expect, loves dancing. She also loves drawing and making videos for her YouTube channel, although she has not frequented the channel of late.
9. What happened to her
There is no denying the fact that when she first came, everyone had expected that Elena Eremina was going to become the heiress to the gymnastic throne at least in Russia.
However, she has not kept so much to that faith. One of the main reasons behind this is the aforementioned back surgery which has kept her out for a while. However, she returned in 2019, although she was still yet to be back to her former self.

Since 2017, there were already talks about Elena and the 2020 Olympics. With all fingers crossed, she has been tipped as one of those to shine at the tournament by the famous Soviet gymnast Nellie Kim in 2017.
According to the legendary gymnast, Elena could become one of the serious contenders for [AA] victory in Tokyo-2020. There are many others including Russian-American retired artistic gymnast turned gymnastics coach Valeri Liukin who also believe that.
