Sarah Huffman is a former professional US soccer player who played for the United States women’s national soccer teams from the under-16 level to the senior level. She also played in the National Women’s Soccer League for Portland Thorns, Western New York Flash, and Pali Blues among others. However, her career as a soccer star did not last very long before she called it quits.

Nicknamed Huffy, Sarah Huffman was born on March 5, 1984, in Danbury, Connecticut, in the United States. However, it was in Flower Mound, Texas that she was brought up.
Almost everything about her childhood, parents, siblings, and how she was brought up has remained rather mysterious. It is known, however, that she got her education from Marcus High School from where she moved to the University of Virginia.
She got her start with the US Under-19 team in 2000 and then in 2003 she was promoted to the Under-21 team until 2007. In 2010, she got the call to play for the senior team but that was not to be a long call as she only made a single appearance.
She started her club career playing with the youth team of Virginia Cavaliers from 2002 to 2005. In 2007, she got her senior career start with the Washington Freedom Reserves. Although she only spent a season, she made 17 appearances, seeing the back of the net twice.
She moved to Røa IL in 2008 where she made 13 appearances and recorded 14 goals. She was then back to Washington Freedom where she would only record a goal in 22 appearances.
2011 saw her move to magicJack where she got a goal in 18 appearances followed by a move to Pali Blues in 2012. 6 games and 3 goals later, she moved to the Western New York Flash in 2013. There, she made 14 appearances before she finally moved to Portland Thorns where she called it quits after 22 games and a goal.
After she retired from football, Sarah Huffman did not stay away from the sport completely as she decided on becoming a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Virginia where she graduated.

Sarah Huffman and former football star, Abby Wambach got married in 2013 after the lesbian footballers dated for a number of years. A two-time Olympic gold medallist and a FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, Abby also played for the US women’s team from 2001 to 2015, scoring 184 goals in 255 appearances.
Their marriage was held in Hawaii. Unfortunately, it only lasted three years before they divorced in 2016. While nothing more is heard about her relationship life, it is known that Abby has moved on and tied the knot for a second time with Glennon Doyle in 2017.

1. She announced she was lesbian in 2013
At the age of 29, the midfielder announced in Athlete Ally, an organization seeking to eradicate homophobia in sports, that she was a member of the LGBT community. She came out alongside other stars like Megan Rapinoe, Sydney Leroux, and Abby Wambach.
2. Sarah Huffman is not the tallest woman
The midfielder has a height of only 5 feet 4 inches and a bodyweight of 132 lb (62kg). This simply means she is not very tall.

First teammates then friends before becoming lovers, one would have easily guessed that there was enough to make the marriage between the two last forever.
