After moving back to Delray Beach, Florida from Atlanta, in order to get better tennis opportunities, she trained so hard and all over the world as a pre-teen.
At the age of 11, she was chosen by Serena Williams’ coach to attend an exclusive training camp in Nice, France. By 2018, she made her professional debut at an event in Osprey, Florida. She won her very first professional match at the tournament here and she was just 14 years old.
In October 2018, she signed an endorsement deal with New Balance and this was the beginning of her multi-year endorsement deals.
At the early age of 15, Coco won her first WTA singles title at the 2019 Linz Open and this made her the first youngest Tennis player to win that title since 2004. Adding to her title, she also won two WTA doubles titles playing with a fellow teenager; Caty McNally.
By March 2019, Coco made her WTA Tour debut at the Miami Open and won her opening match. She received a ‘wild card’ into the qualifying draw at the 2019 Wimbledon Championship where she became the youngest player in the tournament’s history to qualify for the main draw.
Coco reached the fourth round of the tournament and her matches were even the most-watched because the teenager was already making so many waves and attracting a lot of attention to her.
Two weeks after she finished runner-up in doubles at $100K Midland Tennis Classic alongside Ann Li, she played her next event at the $25k level in Surprise and reached the finals in both singles and doubles.
