Adama Traoré’s Background
Adama Traoré was born on the 25th of January 1996 in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is noteworthy that even though he is known around the world as just Adama Traoré, his full birth name is actually Adama Traoré Diarra.
Traoré is a Spanish man but he also has Malian roots because both his parents are actually Malians. He has an elder brother called Moha Traoré. Interestingly, Moha is also a Spanish footballer who now plays for Spanish club Hércules as a forward.
How Football Began For Adama Traoré
Adama Traoré has always loved football right from when he was just a little boy. As a child, he would play around with anything shaped round on the ground. He absolutely adored the soccer stars he saw on TV and looked forward to being like them.
Eventually, Traoré got his chance to try and become a footballer himself when he joined the youth set up of CE L’Hospitalet, a Spanish football team based in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat when he was just around 7 years old. Shortly after, in 2004 when he was just 8 years old, he joined Barcelona’s youth setup. This was a dream come true for Traoré who had always admired Barcelona stars.
Traoré kept developing and honing his skills at Barcelona and was eventually promoted to the B-team in 2013.
Traoré’s Professional Career
Traoré impressed club officials with his skills at Barcelona Team B and finally, he was able to make his professional debut on 6 October 2013 when he featured in the game against SD Ponferradina for the Segunda División championship. The game ended in a 1–0 defeat for Traoré and his teammates.
Traoré eventually made his La Liga debut when he was 17 years old in the 4–0 home win over Granada CF. He came on to replace Neymar late in the game. Shortly after that, on 26 November, he made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League after coming on for Cesc Fàbregas in the 82nd minute of a 1–2 defeat away to AFC Ajax in the group stage.
Aston Villa
Traoré remained with Barcelona till 2015 when he left for England, joining the Premier League club Aston Villa on a five-year deal on 14 August 2015. He went to make his debut for the club some eight days later in a game against Crystal Palace the scored his first goal three days afterward during a 5–3 home win over Notts County.
Middlesbrough
Adama Traoré played for Aston Villa till 2016 when he left the club and joined Middlesbrough, another Premier League team. Traoré signed a four-year contract with Middlesbrough on 31 August 2016 and made his debut on 10 September 2016 in a 1–2 home loss to Crystal Palace.
Adama Traoré impressed fans at Middlesbrough, especially with his speed. He was so fast that his pace caused quite a lot of problems for opposition defenders. Eventually, at the end of the 2017/2018 season, he won the Middlesbrough’s Fans’ Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Traoré finally left Middlesbrough and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers which had just been promoted on 8 August 2018. The footballer signed a five-year deal with the club. He continues to play at Wolverhampton Wanderers today and has become quite popular with fans at the club. In fact, Traoré won the PFA Player of the Month award for January 2020 with 45 percent of fan votes.
On the international scene, Traoré plays for Spain. Over the years, he has featured in Spain U16, U17, U19, and U21 squads.
