Adrianna Franch is an American football player who plays as a goalkeeper in the National Women’s Soccer League, and Kansas City Current. She is regarded as a goalkeeper of exceptional talent and ability and is valued both at the club level and the international level, where she was once a part of the United States U23 women’s national soccer team.
She has been named NWSL Goal Keeper of the Year for two consecutive seasons in 2017 and 2018. She also made the NWSL Best XI twice in a row. Adrianna managed to earn these honors despite the fact that she made fewer starts in the 2018 season because of an injury. She holds the record for best goals-against average ever in the NWSL with 0.86, as well as the second-highest shutouts by goalkeepers who have had at least 20 starts in the league, and the highest save percentage since 2016 with 78.2%.

Adrianna was born on November 12, 1990, in Salina, Kansas. She completed her early education at South High School in her hometown, where she played as their starting goalkeeper for three years. She missed out on her final season due to a basketball-related injury. During her time on the team, Adrianna received All-League, All-Southwest Region, and All-State honors, and was named MVP.
The star player excelled at the sport of basketball too, taking home first-team All-League and All-County honors, and earning an honorable mention for the All-State Performer honors. She was part of the Region II team of the Kansas Olympic Development Program. While in the program, she also played pool at the national level, helping her team to a state championship in 2006, and leading them to the finals in 2007 and 2008. Adrianna is fondly referred to as the next Bri Scurry, because of her love for the former women’s national team goalkeeper whom she has admired since she was a child.
Upon graduating high school, Adrianna moved on to further her education at Oklahoma State University, where she joined the school’s team as the starting goalkeeper in her very first year. She was instrumental in the team winning their second Big 12 tournament in history. Adrianna went on to become one of the most decorated players in the University and Big 12 conference history. She was named All-American twice and was a semi-finalist twice for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
Adrianna Franch made the All-Big 12 First team list in each of her four seasons at Oklahoma State, becoming the seventh player ever to do so. She made history in 2010 as the first Oklahoma State player to make it to the U.S. National Team after she was called up to join the U-20 squad.

Adrianna Franch began her club career in 2013 after getting picked in the first round of the NWSL College Draft by the Western New York Flash. She was the first goalkeeper to get selected by a team and the first player overall chosen by the Flash. She went on to make incredible saves for the team, making six saves in her very first match. By the end of the season, she had seven clean sheets, made a record of 10-4-8, and posted 0.91 goals-against average.

In the 2016 season, Adrianna’s record streak continued. She played in six games total, recording 19 saves, 3 shutouts, and a 0.50 goals-against average. The following season, she set the NWSL record for shutouts and save percentage, and registered a 0.83 goals-against average.
The 2018 season saw her make 45 saves, 3 shutouts, 76.3 save percentage, and a 1.00 goals-against average.
Current Teams
Adrianna kicked off her professional club career with the Western New York Flash, where she played for one season before moving to Norwegia to sign with Avaldsnes IL in the Toppserien league. She helped the team finish second in the tournament. At the end of the season, she returned to the NWSL to play for Portland Thorns FC. Initially, she played backup for the starting goalkeeper Michelle Beyond, before replacing her to become a starter in 2017. She still plays for the Thorns till date.
