Biography of Aivi Luik
The Australian football star was born Aivi Belinda Kerstin Luik on 18 March 1985 in Perth, Australia. She was birthed to a Swedish mother, Mare Luik, and a father from Hungary. She was brought up together with an older sister and her brother, Lee Luik who she described as very influential in her life while growing up. She stated that they played together while growing up on the streets and in parks.
As regards her education, Luik attended the University of Nevada, the United States of America where she studied Geography.
Unlike many others who fell in love with football from ages they didn’t know, Aivi fell in love with it when she was 9 years old after watching the USA 1994. This is what drove her to start playing for the Palm Beach U11 side in Queensland, Australia.
From 2003 to 2004, she played for Brescia University, and then from 2005 to 2006, she played for Nevada Wolf Pack. Next, she started her senior career playing for F.C. Indiana in 2005. At 40 years old, she is currently one of the oldest players in professional women’s football, alongside others like America’s Megan Rapinoe who is also 39 years old as well as Canda’s Christine Sinclair who is two years older at 41 years old. She revealed that she almost lost hope of making it to the biggest footballing competition before she got the overwhelming call she had been waiting for. With her appearance at the tournament, she became the first Wolf Pack player to play in a World Cup match.
More than that, she got invited again at 36 to play for the Australian team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan where she helped the team to reach the semi-finals before losing to the Swedes.

She would have been traveling around the world with broadcaster and natural historian David Attenborough to cover wildlife as well as human culture as a photographer. According to her, the money from it would have been donated towards human aid organizations and wildlife.
