Alex Antetokounmpo, 23, is the youngest brother of basketball players Giannis, Kostas, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo. The 6-foot-8-inch player started playing basketball at the age of nine. He also played basketball for Dominican High School.
The athlete comes from an athletic family. Besides basketball, Alex’s father, Charles, and his oldest brother Francis played football while his mother was a a high jumper.
A Short Bio Of Alex Antetokounmpo
The basketball star was born Alexandros Antetokounmpo on August 26, 2001, in Greece by his parents, Charles and Veronica. His parents were originally from Nigeria but they migrated to Athens.
Although there are some reports that he was born in the United States, it was actually in Athens, Greece, where he was brought up alongside his brothers; Giannis, Kostas, and Thanasi.

Alex attended St. Monica School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. He didn’t have the easiest life growing up because his parents had no steady jobs so they struggled to keep food on the table for their kids and there were times when the fridge went empty.
With the opportunities got by Giannis who later made the NBA, the family moved to the States where Alex continued to play basketball and attended Dominican High School in suburban Milwaukee where he lives. He played basketball for the school team and is mostly utilized for his great length and defensive capabilities.
Although he may still have some distance to cover before he can think of the NBA Draft or even the NBA itself, there is every possibility that with his potential, Alex may succeed as a basketball player. In fact, Giannis has stated that with the potential of his brother, he may even be better than him.
Who Are Alex Antetokounmpo’s Family Members?
In 1991, the parents of Alex Antetokounmpo left Lagos, Nigeria with the hopes of finding a better future in Greece. At the time, they had already had a son, Francis who they left with his grandparents.
Because his parents had no papers in Greece, they struggled to find jobs being immigrants with no papers, and his older brothers had to hawk at an early age to be able to support the family. More so, since the parents had no papers, his brothers were not considered citizens of Greece.
The fortunes of the family would soon change when the raw talent of his brother Giannis attracted a lot of attention to them. By that time, at only 19, Giannis had already become one of the greatest basketball players that the country had ever seen, and what was more, he chose Greece over the country of his parents, Nigeria.
Giannis became a Greek citizen in 2013 and that opened up more opportunities for the younger Alex and, in fact, the entire family.
The family suffered a great tragedy in 2017 their father Charles Antetokoumpo died from what was suspected to be a heart attack.

Athleticism has always been in the family
While for now, the name that rings the bigger bells is Giannis, Alexis Antetokounmpo is also making his way. But beyond the two, athleticism has always been in the family as their father, Charles played soccer just like his own father while their mother was a high jumper. The Greek Freak has been the biggest influence on Alex. In fact, the younger man shares his time between the home of their parents and his brother’s place which is not far off. Giannis has always taught him a lot about the game and how to approach it with seriousness and killer instincts.
