Alex Flanagan Biography
An American, Alex Flanagan was born September 22, 1972, as Alex Wystrach in Arizona, the United States. Flanagan was raised in southern Arizona on a ranch that was owned and operated by her parents. They also owned and ran The Steak Out Restaurant.
She has a brother, Mark Wystrach who used to be a model for Calvin Klein. More than that, he has also done some acting gigs in the past including Weeds and 90210. But then, he is more popular as a musician.
He is a part of the trio group, Midland that also has Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson as the other members.
For her education, Alex Flanagan went to Salpointe Catholic High School in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona from 1985 to 1989.
After she was through, Alex went to the University of Arizona from where she graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in media arts and journalism.
She began her career in 1993 with KVOA-TA in Arizona and then worked there as a producer for a children program, Bear Essentials News. Also, she wrote news as well as directed and produced it for the program which was reported by children.
Alex Flanagan remained with the TV until December of the same year when she moved to KCCO in Minnesota where she worked as a news anchor, reporter, and producer.
She also handled various jobs for the CBS owned and operated satellite station until October 1994 when she left to work with WSFA 12 News as a weekend anchor, reporter, and producer. She was there for two years before leaving in 1996.
In 2000, Alex became the host of Lifestyle on Direct TV. She was only there until 2001. Even before then, Alex Flanagan was also working with Fox Sports as a reporter and producer in Los Angeles. She produced and worked as a reporter and producer of the Emmy-nominated weekly sports magazine show, “Goin’ Deep.”
She spent five years with ESPN working as a reporter and host. At the time, she covered college football and basketball among other things. In 2007, she was a host and reporter with NBC sports.
During her time there, she was a sideline reporter for Super Bowl XLIII. She also hosted various Olympics s including the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2010 Winter Olympics. She left NBC in 2017 after 10 years.
NFL Career
Among other things, she also became even more famous for her work with NFL Media. Alex was with the NFL from 2006 to 2018. While there, she was the host of programs such as Total Access, Game Day Morning, up to the Minute, and she was a reporter for Thursday Night Football sideline.
The veteran sports journalist who is also a recognized public speaker and panel moderator is the co-founder of Ilovetowatchyouplay.com which is a youth digital media company.
She created the platform as a place for parents who need some balance in the world of youths sport.
Married, Husband, and Kids
As regards her relationship side of life, Alex Flanagan is a married woman. She is married to Kevin Flanagan since 1997.
The couple met when they were still in college and they dated for a number of years before deciding to become man and wife.
Flanagan used to play basketball in his college days for the University of Arizona, although he did not pursue a career there when he was through. He now co-owns the shoe company The Peoples Movement.
Alex and her husband have been blessed with three children- two daughters and a son.
