Ali Krieger is an American soccer player whose defending skills made her share in the glory of the US National Women Soccer team that won the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ali Krieger Biography
Ali Krieger was born as Alexandra Blaire Krieger in Virginia USA on 28th July 1984, into the family of Ken Krieger and Debbie Christopher.
She grew up in the company of her brother Kyle Krieger in Dumfries Virginia. She is very fond of her brother who is believed to have inspired her soccer career.
She spent one year at Hylton High School before transferring to Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Virginia where she got her high school education.
Since childhood, Ali got the unreserved support of her parents particularly her father, in the pursuit of her soccer career. Her father coached her for over 12 years and she played for Prince Williams Soccer Inc. where she groomed her skills.
While in High school, she captained the soccer team for three years and earned the honor of Gatorade’s state player of the year in her final year. She was twice named All-Virginia AAA selection and was an All-Met Honorable during her sophomore year.
After graduation from High School Ali Krieger got accepted into the Penn State University where she joined the College soccer team, Penn State Nittany Lions. Her strive with the team saw her scoring 11 goals in 87 matches.
During her freshman year at college, Ali joined the Washington Freedom for exposition matches during the summer in 2004.
Her performance in the college team was quite impressive as she had scores of achievements to her name, which include: being named as Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after 2006 season, as well as the Penn State’s Most Valuable Player.
She also clinched the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors, NSCAA All-America First Team honors, All-Big Ten First Team honors, Big Ten All-Tournament and the Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Ali made history by becoming the only Nittany Lion to be given All-American honors at two different positions. She finally graduated from the University in 2006 and embraced her professional soccer career in full force.
Professional Soccer Career
Ali Krieger started off her professional soccer career as a midfielders in the W-League playing for the Northern Virginia Majestics in 2005. She made only one appearance for the team.
After her performance with the Virginia Magestics, upon return her return, she joined the Washington Freedom in July 2005 still on exhibition match with the team. Unfortunately, Ali suffered a setback as she sustained a leg injury which kept her out for the season. She eventually joined the Freedom during the summer of 2007 during their first season under the W-League team.
She joined FFC Frankfurt appending to a two-year contract with the team. She played under the Frauen-Bundesliga, which was the top division of women’s soccer league in Germany.
It was enthusiasm and outstanding skills of Ali that culminated in the Bundesliga Championship title of FFC Frankfurt in that season in addition to being the first American to win the UEFA women’s cup. During the 2008–09 Bundesliga season, Ali once more sustained an injury on her foot that affected form in the season.
From there, she had to join the Washington Freedom in 2009. FFC Frankfurt could not let go of Ali’s prowess that they had to call her back for the 2009/2010 seasons, where she made 15 appearances and managed to help Frankfurt into the third place.
By 2013, Ali again joined the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League. She made 18 appearances for the team and scored one goal. The Washington Spirit failed to make any headway in the season and finished last in the season.
Ali Krieger left the Washington Spirit for Sweden where she joined the Tyresö where she made seven appearances with the team in the Damallsvenskan regular season while she made four appearances in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Again, Ali had to go back to the Washington Spirit during the 2014 season. In the 2015/2016 season, she made 23 appearances, scoring 2 goals. Her shine made her to earn the Spirit Fan Favorite Defender of the Year as well as being given the title of the NWSL Second Best XI.
International Career
Internationally, Ali has also made much waves. She became part of the line-up United States National Women’s team that took part in the 2008 Four Nations Tournament, which she helped the team to claim the title.
On October 13, Ali was in the line-up for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament in which the United States reached the third place.
Next, she earned a spot in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was then named among the Fox Soccer’s Best 11 as the best right back in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup although the US lost to Japan in the final game.
Also, Ali was absorbed into the US team that went for the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Qualifying tournament in October. She equally helped the United States to advance to the final and qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup which the team went on to win.
In May 2019, Ali was named in the 23-player squad line-up for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be her third World Cup appearance. She helped the team to clinch the title for yet another time.
Personal life, Married, Lesbian partner
It is no longer news that Ali is a confirmed lesbian, the midfielder is said to be married to her long-time lesbian partner Ashlyn Harris who is also a soccer goalkeeper with the USWNT and Orlando Pride. She is her teammate in the Orlando Pride.
The duo had their honeymoon in Atlantis in The Bahamas and they are living a happy life. To announce the news of her engagement to Harris stormed social media in March 2019.
However, prior to her meeting Harris, Ali was in a relationship with Brent Wise who is a baseball player.
Ali has had the rare honor of meeting former US President Barack Obama at the White House after winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also features in the EA Sports’ FIFA video game series in FIFA 16, thus, being the first time women players were included in the game.
