André-Pierre Gignac is a French international soccer player who is currently playing as a forward in Mexico’s first-tier league club Tigres UANL and the Les Blues of France. The striker was fondly called by his friends and teammates as Dede started playing football with local clubs Fos and Martigues in Bouches-du-Rhone. He later journeyed to Brittany and joined Lorient to play professionally.
After a loan spell at Pau, he joined Toulouse in 2007 where he rose to prominence after struggling initially. He rounded up the 2008/09 campaign as the league’s leading goal scorer and left Toulouse to join Olympique Marseille in a 5-year contract.
As shocking as it sounds, 5 years later, he left Europe for South America to play Tigres UANL in the Mexican League. Football pundits were shocked by his choice, considering the fact that he was a top-class striker whom they thought would move to one of the big money clubs in Europe.
