Andreas Brehme-Cause of Death

Former German player Andreas Brehme died on February 20, 2024, after suffering a cardiac arrest in Munich Hospital. This was confirmed by his partner, Susanne in a statement that read,

It is with deep sadness that I announce on behalf of the family that my partner Andreas Brehme died suddenly and unexpectedly tonight as a result of a cardiac arrest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time and refrain from asking questions.

Apparently, Brehme was previously admitted to Ziemssenstrasse Hospital, but medical professionals were unable to revive him.

According to Bild, the former player was affected by the death of his good friend and mentor, Franz Beckenbauer at the beginning of the year. His death came just 44 days after that of his friend.

Andreas Brehme-Wife and Children

Brehme and Pilar married in 1987 but separated after 23 years in 2010. The marriage produced two children, Ricardo and Alessio.

Until his death, he was a devoted partner to Susanne Schaefer. One memorable moment between the deceased and his wife has to be when he mistakenly filmed her topless when she interrupted his video to a fan.

The former World Cup champion and his 55-year-old wife did not realize what they had done until their friends and relatives started calling them. Funnily, the couple managed to see the funny part of what they did when he said,

Now the whole world knows what a great wife I have! Shouldn’t have happened, but I can laugh at myself. In future I’d better let Susanne film

Tributes For the Football Legend

Following his death, several tributes have been pouring in for the football legend. Bayern and other clubs have paid their respects to their beloved former player.
