The soccer star was born Bobby Shou Wood on November 15, 1992, in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. While he has a mother who is part Japanese, his father is African American. He got his education from Lakeside Middle School in Irvine before deciding to play soccer.

Of Asian and African-American ancestry, the parents of the soccer star are Yoko Kurokawa and Bobby Wood, Sr. respectively. While his father works in a transport business, his mother is a legal assistant. He was brought up alongside a sister, Shantell Wood.
Although he is close to both his mother and sister whose pictures he shares on his social media, there is not so much about his father that he shares.
3. Early Career
Having had a passion for soccer since he was a child, he began attending Powder Edge SC in his hometown in 1999. It was there that he started his youth career. He remained there until 2005 when he moved to Irvine Strikers to continue his formative years for the next two years.
In 2007, Bobby Wood moved to 1860 Munich in Germany where he would continue his youth football until 2010 when he was promoted to the 1860 Munich II.
4. Professional career
In 2011, Wood began playing for 1860 Munich with which he would continue until 2015 when he was sent on loan to Erzgebirge Aue. 9 goals and three goals later, he was sold to Union Berlin in the same year. In 21 games for the club, he netted 17 goals and was sold to Hamburger SV in 2016. He remained with the team until 2018 when he was sent on loan to Hannover 96.
5. International career
Bobby Wood started playing for the United States under-20 team in 2010 and in 2011, he played for the under-23 team. In 2013, he gained promotion to play for the Senior US team and thus far, he has had 13 goals to his name after 45 games.
