Bruno Gervais is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman who currently works on RDS as a sports analyst. He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the German DEL club Eisabaren Berlin.
The former defenceman with more than 400 games in the NHL, ended his career due to injuries that forced him out prematurely. He was selected by the New York Islanders as 182nd overall in the 6th round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Bruno also participated in the show ‘Battle of the Blades’ in 2019 and his partner was Ekaterina Gordeeva. In addition to this, he is involved in philanthropy. Bruno Gervais was born on 3rd October 1984 in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. While growing up, the 40 year-old was the shy type, his parents had to enroll him into hockey to take care of that timidity.
He was not comfortable on the first day he played on the ice, and he even cried. Despite this, his parents didn’t stop bringing him to the arena. Hence, he developed a liking for the game. More importantly, he preferred to skate backward, and his mother, Hélène Feeley sees it as a defensive quality.

The former defenceman co-founded the Gervais-Talbot Foundation with his childhood friend, Maxime Talbot in 2008. The aim of the foundation is to raise funds and organize events for children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Since it was founded, the pair have engaged in projects and participated in numerous charity events. Some of the events include; the “Omnium Gervais-Talbot”, which they have organized 8 times, the NHL player tour in 2012, the September 2021 100 Minute Challenge, and the Champions Dinner in Montreal.
4. Gervais And Talbot Have Been Friends Since The Age of Ten
It is not surprising that the pair partnered together to found a foundation using their surnames. Their friendship dates back to when they were just kids. They were united by their passion for the game of hockey, which saw them accomplishing their childhood dreams of playing in the NHL.
Before then, they played together at the Bantam level. And later found themselves playing against each other in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. While in the NHL, Gervais played for the New York Islanders, and Talbot played for Pittsburg Penguins.
Their dreams of playing in the same NHL team came to pass when both played for Flyers of Philadephia. So, it was their friendship and desire to give back that births their foundation. Now, childhood friends are at the head of a program on RDS.

The Longueuil-born former defenceman was appointed captain of Acadie-Bathrust Titan of the QMJHL when he was 18 despite the presence of many veteran players at the time. He later hurt his knee at the tryout camp for Canada’s under 20 team. Sadly, he didn’t feature in any game for the rest of the season.
2. He Played Last For Eisbaren Berlin Before Retiring
Gervais played for the German DEL club Eisbaren Berlin before his retirement on July 13th 2017. He joined a club as a free agent on a one-year contract on 6th July 2015. After retirement, he returned to Quebec, Canada with his wife and three children to begin the new chapter of his life.
