Who Is Bryson DeChambeau?

The youngest son of John Howard Aldrich DeChambeau and Janet Louise Druffel was born on 16th September 1993, in Modesto, California, the US. He grew up together with his older brother Garrett, in Clovis, East Fresno, a town where his family relocated to when he was 7 years old.

His father who was a former golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 80s now works with a golf social media company called Verishot. At the moment, his mother is working as a sales representative.

For his high school education, he was at Clovis East High School, where he competed and won the California State Junior Championship when he was 16. After graduating in 2012, he took a scholarship to Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, and majored in physics.

While at the university, he became the first SMU Mustang to win the NCAA individual championship, with a record score of 280 (-8), winning by a single stroke.

Bryson DeChambeau’s Earns Massively Through His Career And Other Endorsements

The golfer is said to be worth around $10 million. He has earned around $25 million, earning a spot on the all-time money leaders among professional golfers.

In 2021, DeChambeau made more than $5 million on the PGA Tour. His previous earnings include; $256,000 at the RBC Heritage in 2016, $152,000 at the 2016 U.S Open. He also won $2 million after falling in 3rd place in the FedEx Cup. And in November 2018, he won the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas, earning $1.2 million as prize money.

Asides from the money he earns from playing golf, he also makes money from the multiple endorsements he has with some brands. When PGA Tour signed a betting partnership deal with DraftKing, they contracted the golfer as their first signature athlete. He went on to feature in a number of ads for them.

DeChambeau is also associated with other brands like Cobra Golf (a subsidiary of Puma), and Bentley. He also has endorsements with Bridgestone Golf, Rolex, Netjets, and Bose.

The golfer is not yet married. However, he is in a relationship with a good-looking lady. She goes by the name, Sophia Phalen Bertolami.

She is a social media sensation, an aspiring nurse, and a philanthropist. She studied at the Chapman University in Orange, California, where she earned a degree in Kinesiology and Nutrition. She is currently studying for a nursing degree in Nashville, Tennessee.

It is said that the duo first met around 2017, but the relationship became public when Sophia shared pictures of her and DeChambeau in a private jet on her Instagram in 2018.

1. His Mathematical Skills Were off Limits

Bryson starts displaying his analytical mind at a tender age. At 6, he has already mastered mental mathematics as well as having an understanding of algebra.

2. He Rewrote His Physics Textbook In High School

While the golfer was at Clovis East High School, he borrowed a physic textbook from the school’s library and recopied everything from the 180-page book into a 3-ring loose-leaf folder. He says his parents could have bought one for him, however, he didn’t want to bother them since they have done so much for him.

By rewriting it, he was able to comprehend things to a whole wide-ranging level.

3. He Is Right-Handed But Could Sign An Autograph With His Left

Despite being right-handed, the golfer can sign his autograph backward with his left hand. He spends hours improving his handwriting with the left hand. He says dedication does it for him.

If he wants to learn Arabic or Russian, it’s possible. Or tying his shoes in a particular way, he could. He reveals in an interview that he is not really smart, yet, he is dedicated.

He made history by becoming one of the 5 golf players to win the NCAA Division 1 Championship and the US Amateur in the same year. He joined the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Ryan Moore who also achieved the feat.

The only player in the history of golf to achieve the milestone are Bryson DeChambeau, Tiger Woods, and Jack Nicklaus.

Bryson averaged over 350 yards and win on the PGA Tour at the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic. The golfer became the first player to set the milestone on the PGA Tour as the longest driver.
