Caitlin Foord is an Australian football star who plays for the Arsenal women’s team and also the Australian Women’s National Team. She wrote her name in gold after featuring for her country’s national side as the youngest player at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup when she was just 16. She has gone places already and has represented her country at different levels starting from the under-17 to the senior national team and at different tournaments.

Foord is among the list of women professional footballers who started their careers from a very young age. She has built and developed herself from a defender to a forward. She has scored goals and has won several laurels both domestically and internationally. She’s still young but she has already featured for her national side in more than 70 games. She’s talented and skillful. If she continues with her form, she’d go places in the world of soccer.

The footballer was born Caitlin Jade Foord on November 11, 1994, in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia. She was brought up by a single mother Simone Foord alongside an older sister, Jamie in a rented house at Lake Illawarra.

As a kid growing up, she was interested in different sports. In fact, it had been a part of her since she started working. When she was in primary school, Foord played rugby league with boys but her family would not allow her to join the league because it was rough.

At the age of 9, she started playing football and her mother was there to help her. She would pick her up from school and drive her to Sydney Olympic Park four times a week. By evening, they would both be exhausted and they would head home and sleep.

Because of how much she had always been interested in sports, she was sent to Illawarra Sports High School for her education.

As regards her personal life, Caitlin has kept the person she is dating a very private matter.

She Has Had A Great Career Thus Far

The Australian international started her amazing journey into the world of professional football when she was just 15 years of age. This journey officially began when signed with the Central Coast Mariners in 2009 from the New South Wales Institute of Sport prior to the 2009 W-League season. It was a dream come through for the young girl whose only desire was to be a Footballer and a perfect one at that.

Unfortunately the following season there was no football action for Caitlin with her new team as there was an announcement in 2010 preventing the club from fielding a women’s team in the 2010/11 W-League season.

Caitlin whose love for playing is high couldn’t stay but rather switched to another club- Sydney FC. She spent about 4 seasons, featuring in 44 games and scoring 10 goals in the process of the club.

In 2013 Caitlin moved to Sky Blue FC, where she contributed immensely to the success of the club as they finally made it to the playoffs for the first time in their history. She featured in 15 games for the club in her debut season and her dedication, discipline, talent, skill, and brilliance earned her a spot in the 2013 NWSL second 11.

The team’s coach discovered the effort she always puts in to help the team win games and the energy she brings into the team whenever she plays and decided to give her enough football action in the next  NWSL season. She became a regular starter in 20 of her 21 league appearances. Her inputs and effort paid off as her team ended the campaign in 6th position.

She missed a lot of football action the following 2 seasons because her home country called her for international duties at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was only able to feature in just 10 games. And the 2017 NWSL season saw her moving to another club side in Japan named Vegalta Sendai Ladies where she played for one year. An announcement to that effect was made in December of 2016.

In 2017, she made a return to her old lover and club Sydney FC where she once for 4 good seasons. She featured 6 times and netted 3 times which ultimately earned her team a place in the playoffs.

Unfortunately for the team, it was a double loss as they lost her to an injury she sustained and they also lost to Melbourne City in the Finals 2 nill. The following season she bounced back and came back better as she netted 3 times again for the club in the match which ended their 3 game losing run by thrashing Brisbane Roar 5-1.

She was traded to the Portland Thorns in a 2018 player exchange and she remained with the club until 2020 when she moved to her current club, Arsenal.

Her International Career Has Been Likewise Great

Internationally, Foord began featuring for her country at the age of 16. She made her first appearance in May 2011 for the women’s national team in a 3-0 friendly win match against New Zealand, where she netted a goal.

As young as she was, Foord was part of the Australian team that made it to the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany. And the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was also in the squad that represented Australia in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In 2017 during the inaugural Tournament of Nations, she helped Australia to win the trophy, and then in 2019 when she was only 25 years old, she represented the country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which became her third time going to the World Cup. She also made it to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where the team lost the bronze medal to the United States.

Caitlin Foord has had an amazing football career both at the club and international levels. She has played for a good number of football clubs around the world from her home country of Australia, the US, and Japan. She has given a good account of herself on the pitch.

Information regarding how much Foord has been earning as salary annually is not available as it is been reviewed. Some sources claim that players in Australia receive an annual pay cheque of $21,000.00 as salary.

As regards her net worth, Caitlin Foord has an estimated $1.5 million dollars. She made her fortune from her incredible career and also from the numerous endorsement deals she has including with brands such as Nike.

Because of this, she had always dreamed that as soon as her career started paying off, she was going to repay do something great for her mum even though she may never be able to repay her.

While she may not be a professional actress, Caitlin Foord was in the 2019 film, Back Of The Net. She made a cameo alongside other renowned actors including Sofia Wylie and Melissa Bonne among others.

4. Her sister was instrumental in her career

Like most other girls that excelled in football, Caitlin started playing with the boys when she was in primary school. At the time, their mother did not know that her young daughter was talented. Hence it was her sister, Jaime that saw her and convinced their mother who was initially hesitant of allowing her to play, to do so. This opened the doors for her to achieve many great things.
